I hear you loud and clear and it sounds like the right idea and great advice. I am technically useless and it would take me ages to be comfortable with this and why I would be very hesitant to even try.

just the next time that you get a new laptop, if that is the sort of thing that you do. Put mint on it and have a go. I do enjoy how you needn't ever be worred about malware or viruses. I go do dodgy websites on one of my machines and just click without a worry in the world. an malicious .exe doesn't have any idea how to interact with a Linux system.
