Gwern moving from writing to AI startup

Well this caught my attention. The mysterious "Gwern" is apparently moving from writing to an AI startup for individuals.

Who is Gwern anyway?

I'm not sure anyone knows exactly who Gwern is. I first came across Gwern and https://gwern.net two years ago when I was trying to answer a seemingly simple question for the book "Kicking the Hornet's Nest": Is this Wei Dai--Satoshi Nakamoto email conversation legit? It's a bit of a long story, but Gwern appears mostly in part 2 on Stacker News at https://stacker.news/items/694651 and again in part 3 at https://www.stacker.news/items/702785.

If you know who Wei Dai is then you know. If you don't, he's the author of one of the eight papers cited in the original Bitcoin whitepaper by Satoshi. In 2014 Gwern asked Dai (on Dai's site lesswrong.com) if the emails could be put on gwern.net and Dai said okay. Those emails are still at https://gwern.net/doc/bitcoin/2008-nakamoto. Bitcoin is first mentioned on gwern.net all the way back to 2010.

What is this Guardian Angel?

I'm not sure. From the things I've read by Gwern, he or she seems brilliant. Guardian Angel seems to have the goal of moving away from chatbot AIs to being a personalized AI assistant, a digital you that you control. At least that's how I understand it from a quick glance. Since Gwern seems smart, since this is a big move from writing to AI-ing, and with the early bitcoin connection, I will be keeping an eye on this one.
