Is Technology Reserving A Future Where Human Thrive?

When I read about Nikola Tesla, I was astounded. Such a genius who once lived. His ideas about wireless communication and electrical power transmission were incredible, yet they were met with skepticism. People never believed it to be possible and probably thought he was weird or mad. However, his ideas now underpin much of today's electrical engineering and wireless technologies.

Sometimes, people doubt the power of evolving technology and how it can become a reality someday. But most technologies, as they looked impossible years ago, have now become a reality. I remember how in some sci-fi movies, people used to show us the future of technology, driving flying motors, using laser technologies, and many others.

During those times, I wondered if there would be a future possibility of seeing such technologies, and today, flying motors(Hoverbike) are being used. Technology has indeed brought about significant changes in our world and has the potential to achieve even more than what we've already witnessed.

Everything now revolves around technology. Every tool or software that enables these tools to perform specific functions is a product of technological innovation, often born from preconceived ideas. However, technology's path continues to advance, and we can't simply halt its progress.

Technology's impact is like a double edge sword; impacts can be felt in two ways: positive and negative. While technology has transformed our world in many positive ways, it has also had adverse effects. While many embrace technology, concerns loom regarding its long-term implications and one area can look at this is transportation.

The emergence of driverless cars(like Waymo, Google's formal driverless car) poses a significant threat to traditional driving jobs, like taxis, Uber, and deliveries. This raises the critical question: what lies ahead for those dependent on these occupations? It's quite obvious that more jobs may be displaced as automation continues to advance.

Recently, with the emergence of ChatGPT and its counterparts, such as Google's Bard, we are witnessing the proliferation of AI's and their diverse applications. When we analyze the developments made so far, it becomes evident that the AI revolution in many facets of life is just beginning, and the technology is poised to do much more.

From what I've seen, it's clear that these advanced technologies have the potential to replace many jobs that were traditionally carried out by people. In my recent exploration of human-like robots(humanoids) , I've noticed substantial progress in creating machines that can imitate human actions and perform a wide range of functions, tasks, and cognitive processes just like humans.

As we look to the future, with technologists dedicating considerable effort to refining these humanoid robots, their diverse capabilities could result in job losses and the automation of various other tasks. The advancements in the tech space are undoubtedly impressive, but it's very necessary to consider what the future holds with these developments. We often find excitement in each new technology that simplifies our work.

However, what if these technological advancements lead us down a path where they not only do our work for us but eventually replace all our roles in the process? As we tread the path of innovation, I strongly think that there should always be a place reserved for humans, not "a no space" where technology handles everything and put us aside.

You've addressed a very pressing concern by this post. I wrote a dissertation sometime back on the effects of the 4IR on construction and research revealed information that many would consider very disturbing. It has become obvious that many are being left behind as it is and many more will have no place in the labour market, in the nearest future.

Papers mention investing heavily in upskilling as the solution; while this will go a long way in bridging the wide gap being created by technology against different kinds of labourers, it simply will not be enough. I really do hope that there's something else that can be done, without denying the world this sort of mind-blowing progress and technological advancement.

Thank you for this; I truly appreciate what you've shared. Upskilling is indeed a good solution, but what happens when technologists keep pushing technology to continuously improve its skills without leaving any room for the human element? That's where the problem lies. So I think the best approach will be to always leave a space where human fit

Technology's impact is like a double edge sword; impacts can be felt in two ways: positive and negative.

Indeed, this I think is the norm, there is always positive and negative in everything around us.

Yes, that's it, but often sometimes we tend to forget the negative impacts of everything while we highlight their positive aspects. It really matters how we learn to deal with any negatives that come with technology

i get your view friend, one thing to note is that technology always aims to displace old methods. I must say, technology has created much jobs than it has taken. Just that many have stayed to criticize rather than embrace new opportunities.

Thank you, my friend. I truly love technology and everything it presents, but emerging technologies seem to leave little or no space for humans, which calls for concern

There are absolutely lots of valid concerns with this stuff and I know that there are a lot of advancements going on in many ways around the world. The thing we need to remember is that work of some form is supposed to be complementary to us and our existence. The best form of slavery they’ve come up with is wage slavery, it has been far more effective than anything else in the past. This means the powers that shouldn’t be won’t fuck with it too much, for fear of losing control of us peasants.

There are lots of opportunities out there for those in these sectors, it’s just navigating through them and figuring out what the key areas are going to be.
