VPN Issue Solved???
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to hopefully be able to say that my VPN issues may be behind me!
VPN Issue Solved???
One of the things that I've posted about a few times in the past few months is how annoyed I have been with my VPN issues. I purchased a decent VPN company subscription and it works amazing on my phone however when it comes to my laptop, it's been nothing but a headache.
Fast forward to the other night and I was trying to get onto VPN so I could write some posts and do some engagement. My laptop was being it's normal bitchy self and not connecting me to VPN right away so I was already in a sour mood lol. I hadn't used my laptop in a few days and I ended up needing to plug it in because the battery was lower than I would have liked it to be. I tried to connect to my VPN once again, expecting it to continue to be a pain in my ass. It flipped on right away with no complaints at all! I was excited because I just wanted to fucking get to writing and do a few things before I could get to bed.
Fast forward to the next night and similar situation, I wanted to do some writing so that I could get to bed and sure enough, my computer was being a bitch again so I was not looking forward to fighting with it for 15-20 minutes. It refused to connect to the VPN damn it! I thought about the previous night though, and that my computer flipped right onto VPN with no issues when it was plugged into power. I fetched the power cord, plugged that bitch in and nervously went over to the VPN button.. and sure enough! The VPN connected first fucking try! I was flabbergasted, what the fuck! My damn VPN issues may have been poor voltage to my NIC (network interface card, aka wireless card) or poor voltage from the battery to the NIC so my computer was being a dirty bitch and not letting me tax the card any more by also filtering the traffic through a VPN on top of the regular wireless traffic.
Granted this is not a guarantee yet, because having worked with computers both personally and professionally for many years now, I know that nothing can be truly resolved without thorough testing. I plan on doing some good testing over the next few weeks to see if I can get the issue replicated and try to solve it with the same damn method that solved my issue tonight. I was as annoyed about this whole thing as ever, and was ready to ask some of my IT colleagues that are much smarter than I am with these things about how the hell I could troubleshoot this and get connected smoother. If it turns out that my NIC was the issue and I needed to figure out how to fix it that way, I would have tried that a long time ago by just replacing the damn thing.
That's certainly the struggle with some of these IT things though, you should never assume one thing and then go spend money on it. The famous statement of the last few years "Do your own research" is most apt in this situation. One thing that annoys me though is how poorly the web searching for these things goes though, as there are so many factors at play and one of the primary ones being how people word these technical questions. If somebody doesn't type the question in a fairly similar way to me, then there isn't a whole lot of luck that it will be within the first 2 or 3 pages of web search results unfortunately. That's the name of the game with a lot of this stuff, keeping the most accurate results on the first 2 pages. Who the hell goes back to page 5 anymore these days? Lol.
I'm just very happy to potentially have a light at the end of the damn proverbial tunnel with this shit! It's been driving me nuts for a few months for sure because I just want a reliable connection to my VPN so I can do my normal hive activities without my ISP taking the info and selling it to the highest bidder. I know it gets done that way once it gets published but at least my ISP doesn't get the profit off it, fuck them! Lol.

I can feel how much you are in need of a good VPN
I am glad you got a good one
I hope that in your research you can finally find the flaw, I don't use VPN and they will know my sizes hehe
