Intentionally Less Efficient
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to grumble about how these companies "update" things but just cause a headache.
Intentionally Less Efficient
I know we've all gotten them.. annoying updates - my phone photos now take 4x as long because it loads all of the damn ones starting from the beginning not the latest. What the hell Microsoft?! I don't know if this is an annoying "change" in how Windows works but it's certainly affected me and I'm not a fan lol.
I take quite a few photos on any given day when I'm out there, and not actually sick. I try not to take a bunch of random shit but I like to put some thought and effort into the photos. I'm certainly not a professional but a hobbyist I would like to think of myself.. so that means I do a whole lot of practicing to see if I can get the right shot! With that, I've got quite a few photos on my phone and I try to keep them trimmed so that it's not many thousand and I have to cycle through them all to get to what I want.
This wasn't something really noticeable up until a few months ago I would say, sometime late last year. I updated my computer the way we normally do and one day, I noticed the Photos app was different on the computer. I went to download photos and it was starting to load them all which was fine. This was something it would do before but the issue this time is that it started from the beginning of the damn camera roll on my phone! I do not want that stupid shit to start there! I've got over 2,000 photos on my damn phone LOL get the hell out of here with that shit! Give me the photos that were most recent first and load the oldest shit last, I don't care.
This means now that I have to plug my phone in and go do something else while I wait for the crap to load. Yeah it's not the worst thing in the world but it's just annoying. I've got 5 photos from the other day I want to get off there so I can upload them. I have to wait 3-4 minutes for all of the photos to load now so that I can get to the small number that I want. I'm definitely going to submit some feedback, but there's no way that it's going to do anything with such a big company. If they do do something, it will be in 3-4 years when it doesn't matter anymore, we are defeated lol.
I know that this is one of those things that isn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things but I felt like I wanted to just bitch about it today. Because of the slowness in getting photos off my phone, which I think takes really high freaking quality photos, I've done it less and less so the photos pile up. I found some photos I took last fall that are awesome photos and I wanted to share them... months ago! Lol. It would've been nice to have been able to easily hop on my computer, take 15 seconds and get the photos off and get back to what I was doing. I think this stopped me from getting them.
I've at least got the photos now, as well as 30 others that have been sitting there, so I can put together another couple posts for the next few days but this was a tedious change that I hope I can figure out a way to get it to stop doing that. There is hopefully a configuration setting somewhere that can assist!

Yeah the cameras in the phones these days are incredible!

I’ve never heard about this before but what I know is that waiting can be very tiring
