Happy Sunday everyone, even though this maybe coming late. I was kinda very busy with other important stuffs but as the saying goes, "better late than never".
Alright, welcome to another exciting episode of our weekly digest and it seems like most of our report would be about food.

I don't know exactly why it's like that or maybe it's because somebody which may or may not be me loves food. C'mon, who doesn't love food. 😁

Survival Is a Disgusting Matter – How Nature Uses Revulsion as a Shield

So, supposing you happened to be eating your favourite snack and i sneezed carelessly, in the process released mucus (catarrh) that somehow got in contact with your snack.
😖 Eww!!!
The above expression (eww) is a sign of disgust. Logically, we would avoid the snack to avoid getting infected but the thing with logic is that it's based on previous knowledge and experiences. Without previous knowledge and experience, we would still naturally avoid the snack simply because it's disgusting, this leads to an interesting question and it's, why did we evolve the habit of feeling disgusted ?
Interestingly, feeling disgusted is a defensive strategy, especially against disease. When we feel disgusted, we tend to avoid the stuff that triggered it which in this case is the snack with the catarrh and this in turn prevents us from contacting disease from the contaminated snack. In other words, we are subconsciously/instinctively aware of the danger of eating such snack.
However, there's even another interesting question and it's, do animals also feel the same way ? - disgusted
This is where this report comes in but......keep reading to find out more. I'm sorry if i may have ruined your meal if you happened to be eating while reading this and i would never do such a thing, i still have my manners. 😁

Is frying food possible in space?

Cooking can be quite fun and actually, i enjoy cooking. ☺
Cooking however is also a physical process and a very complex one. The physics and chemistry involved is quite complicated and i wonder how we're able to do it well without much regards to the underlying physical principles, perhaps a question for another time.
If we're going to leave our planet one day, we would need to really understand cooking processes, especially from a fundamental perspective. But why should it be so ?
After all, we can cook perfectly here on earth without much of the knowledge of physics and chemistry. Well, the reason is.......keep reading

My mission to grow fruit without the plant

I feel like our existence (humans) is both a curse and a blessing to nature. Our planet is dying thanks to us (the curse) but we also are the same ones producing mind-bending solutions to save and improve it (the blessing). When we want to eat meat we kill animals for it, this approach has negative consequences on our ecosystem and the lives of animals - animals may be sentient like us too, but thanks to the kind of brains we have, there seems to be another way out. Lab grown meat is the way out, this should not be confused with a lab grown animal for meat. Instead of getting the meat from animals, why not grow the meat in the lab - meat is also made up of cells.
Just like we harm our ecosystem by endangering the lives of animals for meat, we also harm our ecosystem by endangering the lives of plants when seek for fruits - especially in the forest. In this report, a researcher seems to be suggesting a novel approach of growing fruits in the lab without the plant. 😳
Hmmmm..... interesting but how would that even be possible ?
Well, I think by now you know what to do, just keep reading to find out more. But i wonder, wouldn't such products eventually become expensive ? - given the kind of society we're in today. 😒

Morality is declining, right? Scientists say that idea is an illusion

Ever heard of the saying that "people of this modern times can't be trusted" or that there are no longer good people today than in the past ?
I personally have heard people say things like that, especially from older people. I can't say for sure if it's true because i wasn't in existence during those times but this report seems to be debunking such belief and gives psychological reasons as to why people believe so. You can find out more here. Looks like our grand parents may have been hypnotized by time and bias. 😂
