At the end of next year, Amazon will deliver with the new MK30 drones in Italy and the UK, ushering in a new era in package delivery. The news of the use of drones had already been in the air for some time but we all thought it was just a fantasy, seeing flying robots delivering packages to the windows or balconies of our things is super cool.

But now we have a time frame for all of this to be accomplished (or maybe): end of 2024.

Delivery with drones will have a limit to the objects delivered in terms of volume and weight (maximum just over two kilos), initially limiting the number of products to food, medicines, small volume hi-tech products. The limit of this new technology consists in making, at the moment, single deliveries for each order, which will require a truly impressive drone body.

MK30 drones use a sophisticated technology called “sense-and-avoid” that helps detect and avoid obstacles, ensuring the safety of people, animals and buildings. In Italy, ENAC will require strict safety rules and only after the first tests next year will we be able to have more information.

The future of package deliveries could actually change in the next few years, and Amazon would just be the forerunner. Will the skies be filled with robots in the next decade?

Alla fine del prossimo anno, Amazon effettuerà consegne con i nuovi droni MK30 in Italia e UK, dando il via ad una nuova era nella consegna dei pacchi. La consegna con i droni avrà un limite agli oggetti consegnati in termini di volume e peso (max poco più di due chili) limitando inzialmente il numero di prodotti a cibo, farmaci, hi tech di piccolo volume. Il limite di questa nuova tecnologia consiste nell'effettuare, al momento, consegne singole per ogni ordine, per cui sarà necessario un corpo droni davvero imponente.

I droni MK30 utilizzano una sofisticata tecnologia chiamata “sense-and-avoid” che aiuta a rilevare ed evitare gli ostacoli, garantendo la sicurezza di persone, animali ed edifici. In Italia l'ENAC richiederà rigide regole di sicurezza e solo dopo i primi test nel prossimo anno, potremo avere maggiori informazioni.

Il futuro delle consegne dei pacchi potrebbe effettivamente cambiare nei prossimi anni e Amazon sarebbe solo il precursore. I cieli saranno colmi di robot nel prossimo decennio?
