MY FIRST GADGETS

Too bad, that I don't remember the first phone that I used. I want to think that it is because I got exposed to gadgets pretty early and changed them frequently.

Somehow, the phone that comes up in my head as the first one that I used was this Nokia device. I can remember neither the name nor model but I have a clear picture in my mind of what I looked like.
It was beautiful and fit for a chic as me. I liked it so much and I would not lie, I still do. It's just because it holds lots of sweet memories for me. It was my hub.

Amongst my pals, both at home and in school, I was very much the one that had access to these gadgets and understood how to navigate them better(thanks to having older siblings who are invested in these things). So, at school, while others are running to get seats that give them full access to the few computer systems, I took my time. No care. Most often than not, I know the theoretical workings of what he wishes to show.

Back then, I was usually all about my device, and because I kept to myself much, it was all the distraction and fun I cared for. Mostly, I spent my time listening to my kind of songs and downloading. All the social media that I had the time for was basically 2go. Back then when it was a big thing. But even as now, I had little care for it.

And oh, my games. I've forgotten the names of all of them but I remember that one was all about playing dress-up(I could spend the entire day on this one), then Mario(super Mario, I think), then Zuma. If there was more, I cannot remember
To think that the me now doesn't give games a second look.
I usually downloaded them from wapdam or waptrick. Kai! I was an everyday regular customer to those sites. I wonder if they're still functional(I'll check for myself). Those sites were the bomb for all and all.

How much things have changed!
Back then was 100mb could be used to download tons of songs and apps, even videos. Midnight plans were a steal compared to present day. Have you even thought back to realize that back then, the phones we used felt just as big and powerful as the smartphones we have now? Times!

I miss that phone. I may not have parted with it if not for my aunt's kid who opened it up and washed it in a bucket filled with water and detergent. I tried my best, but the damage was irredeemable.

But my very first system, I remember it. I still have it although it's gone bad. Someone says the issue isn't fixable but I've held on to it in the past years for sentimental reasons. So, it was a gift from my immediate big brother. Like a congratulatory gift or something, I think.

Image is mine

It's the mini hp laptop that's super lovely and portable. Before it, I've had access to computers and systems and had always been tech-savvy(i hope the word is appropriate for the context). The Mavis beacon made it fun for a lot of us with the typing lessons and I had good finger speed. There was not much exposure about the deeper areas of tech so it was mostly about excel and basic computer trainings for me. I enjoyed seeing movies too. And browsing. I'm always checking the internet for one thing or another, as I still do now.
From then to now, it's all still the same, only that tremendous changes have occurred.

I can't even remember all that there was about my gadget life from that early time. It's been so long and I've changed gadgets so many times from then.

I understand that the firsts are pretty much easy to recall but how can I when my first were not actually my first. It just feels like I've used these things since ever. You get?

Thanks for gracing this post.
Greetings!

I guess you are the lucky one🤣🤣🤣
Mine was Motorola blueface and I was almost done with my first degree before I got that.
Life was still in the dark to so many of us🤣

You don't mean it😂
Why did you have to wait that long before you got one?

I’m guessing what you did to your cousin who did that to the phone😂
I’m curious because of how you said you didn’t even part ways with it🤣

😂😂you dont want to know.
I did nothing to her.
I just thought in my head that ...her parents would just get me something new(and better), but I got a shocker.
After I made her report herself to her mum, this woman, my aunt, took it to an artisan who couldn't fix it, and like I wanted, she got me something new.

But guess what? It was a -as we call it here - China phone. 50× of less quality than my Nokia. You know those kinds of phones made of steel abi iron sef...yes, that kind.🤣
I couldn't even cry. And, I never ever used that phone even for a day. I don't even know what became of it.

I remember my first phone so well because it was an unexpected gift that came at the right time and it served a very important purpose, I didn't change it that quickly.

It will be difficult to forget something like that, especially as it was a gift.
