My Experience with Promotions at my Job - Week 166

Greetings friends of Hive and the community @WEEKEND EXPERIENCES, today again I am participating in the initiative promoted by @galenkp, in which we select a topic from several proposed, that call our attention to show our experience, this time I chose the promotion.

When we talk about promotion, it refers to a change of functions within the company in which we work, which also implies an improvement in salary, promotions implies that the worker goes up a step in the organizational structure where we are working.

Now, I tell you that 16 years ago, I participated in a contest that was held in an educational agency to select the professional staff that would opt for the positions, where I presented a written test and was selected to start working as a computer teacher in an educational agency of the public administration.

We started working in an educational institution, a group of professionals in the area of computer science with the objective of massifying the use of information and communication technologies to the people and use the computer as a teaching tool for children, and reinforce the contents dictated by the children's teachers.

During these years of work, there have been many experiences and professional learning, where I was able to take different courses that have helped me to impart my knowledge to people in the community and also to solve some problems that have arisen in the technological spaces, at the level of hardware and software.

Due to a very good job, I was promoted as Municipal Technician, whose work consisted in diagnosing the failures of the different technological centers in the municipality, with the purpose of making a visit and solving the failures that exist in each of these technological spaces. This was a very interesting job because it put into practice all the knowledge acquired through the courses and what I learned at the university.

As time went by, I became part of a technical team of 10 professionals, at the state level, which was appointed by the regional coordinator at the technological level, now the task was to perform technical support at the state level, where we visited different educational institutions to solve technical problems of computer equipment.

It should be noted that one of the things I liked about this job was the learning obtained in each of that experience with the technical group, where we also did one-week courses in other states to have a better training, all these were paid by the Ministry of Education. At that time we had an excellent salary as a professional, which allowed us to cover our travel expenses when we were doing our technical support work.

To finish this promotion experience, there was no salary increase, because our salaries were very good, but I consider that a salary increase was necessary because we had a greater responsibility in the new functions that we were performing to solve the problems in each state institution.
