My Experience Using the Tuxmath Educational Program
It should be noted that the CBIT, which stands for Centro Bolivariano de Informática y Telemática, are computer classrooms within schools whose objective is to incorporate technology to students, teachers and the community in general. In the case of student care, the purpose is to reinforce the content seen in the classroom, through technological resources, such as software, educational programs and also using the Internet.
Also, due to the low salaries that we teachers earn, it was agreed that teachers will work from Monday to Wednesday and IT, library and physical education specialists will work from Wednesday to Friday, which is why the hours of attention became longer, which is why it was necessary to use different strategies with different educational programs so that students interact through the computer.
This was applied during the period from September to December, and attendance was good at first, but then it dropped because some teachers told the representatives that they had classes until Wednesday and therefore did not give importance to the attention of the specialist teachers on Thursday and Friday. In view of this situation, in this second period we will be attending to the children four days, from Monday to Thursday, with a time lapse of 15 minutes, maximum 30 minutes, which is the correct time according to the functions of specialists.
Today, students from first, second and third grade were seen. Since it is the second term, the children are coming back from the December holidays, so the idea is to review the basic addition and subtraction operations through the educational program Tuxmath. This is a free software tool in which the student writes the result of the addition operation. As they answer correctly, they advance to the next level.
This educational game also has multiplication and division operations, allowing you to configure them in different languages such as English, Spanish, and French. You can also configure the basic, advanced, and intermediate game level, when it is automatic, the game will advance as the student correctly answers each level. It is available on the Internet to work online, but on this occasion I worked with the application that is installed on each of the computers. The students really liked this game because it reinforces the basic operations and they acquire mental agility to write the correct answers in the software.
Finally, the use of technology with students is important, but it must have a purpose, which is learning and reinforcing the content taught by their teacher, using technological tools, where they also learn in an intuitive and fun way through interactive games.
I hope you enjoyed this experience using Tuxmath educational software.
