Introduction
The importance of knowing and understanding the new technological trends regarding the exploration and production of oil and gas, is that thanks to new advances and scientific research has been able to develop an oil industry in all this time of evolution and development.
These new inventions within the oil industry have allowed certain crucial sectors within the same industry to develop the area of geological research, telecommunications and even an improvement and development within medical care in the oil industry.
Thanks to the fact that technology has been very useful to help solve many of the problems that the oil industry has been able to face and solve, it is possible to continue extrapolating this technological push of the past to develop and boost the current world energy engine.
In this sense, in this publication I would like to share with all of you some advances and trends in oil and gas technology that have been innovative for this oil ecosystem.
Digitization of oil fields
This is one of the first trends in the oil and gas field that has helped to implement new management practices that contemplate data processing through blockchain technology. This new incorporation allows engineers working in the oil industry to collect and share information among all connected industries that are attached to the blockchain system. The advantage of using the blockchain in the oil industry is that it has been possible to facilitate the process of digitizing oil fields.
Another factor in which the blockchain technology within the oil industry can contribute certain points in favor is in the extraction of the hydrocarbons, since through this data transmission system it is possible to carry out an extraction of the hydrocarbon in a controlled way to guarantee the sustainability of the oil reserves.
In conclusion, in the digitalization of the oilfields, blockchain technology has taken place both to communicate and transmit important information between the oil industries, and to develop a controlled system in the extraction of hydrocarbons. Finally, there have also been cases to minimize air, water and soil pollution after the extraction of oil and/or natural gas.
Expanding comfort within the oil industry in remote and harsh environments
When we talk about comfort we refer to many aspects, however for this case I want to mention the technological contribution of telemedicine, which has provided for the case of oil workers an environment where they can be treated for health without having to leave their workplaces, especially taking into account that exploration and production activities take place offshore.
Conclusion
The technological advances that have become a trend in the oil industry not only contemplate the benefits mentioned above, but have also helped to improve accessibility to adverse areas.
An example of improving accessibility to adverse areas is the ability of new technologies to fracture the rocks of the hydrocarbon producing field facilitating the extraction of non-conventional deposits.
Last but not least is the case of clean energy generation, in which technologies have been developed so that oil refineries can improve their performance of the fuels that are extracted from the oil and that it is a less contaminating process.
