What I Made With The Lemons Life Threw at Me
HAVING A POSITIVE VIEW OF LIFE
Hello everyone, trust you are enjoying your weekend. I welcome you to my blog.
Life is dynamic, full of ups and downs. Sometimes our plans do not work out as planned. The reason some say, “man proposes, and God disposes”. Sometimes, it is about standing firm, persisting, being consistent, and having a resilient mindset. Never quitting, even when the whole world says quit. Not giving up easily, even when it seems all hope is lost.

I once worked in a very toxic firm. What started like a jolly good fellow opportunity turned sour. Suddenly, my direct report line became very irrational in her decisions and was holding employees' salaries for any little provocation. Recklessly deducting employees' funds even when there is an official approval to waive such an offense.
It became worrisome because I had been in the organisation for barely three months. It seemed the whole world was crashing down on me. My family just relocated because of this job, and look at what is happening. I developed heart palpitations when this issue lingered, and it seemed there was no hope in sight. Life was giving me Lemons at that point.
At that juncture, I scheduled a meeting with the individual and tried to find out what went wrong, how to salvage the situation to enable us work as a team without fear and rancor. Instead, she maintained her decision for a showdown with the employees if they did not change. Every move to identify the areas of change from her failed. The second and third missions to pacify her failed. I called it quits with her and resolved to plan my exit quietly. Noting that my current place of work is not the end of my life.
At first, I was already demoralised and pained by her attitude, having envisaged a positive work environment with my findings before onboarding. However, I did not allow the situation to break me. This is because I knew in my heart that life has more than enough for me. I wore thick skin and refused to be silenced during management meetings. I speak up in defense of employees, speak my truth, and let my data insights speak.
Furthermore, I started going for my break, socialising more in my professional forums, and even subtly reaching out to friends within and outside the industry about my ordeal and the need to move on. Again, I stayed positive with my daily affirmation and made sure I deliver my job activities as timely as ever, keeping a clean bill of records. I also started upskilling, attending training, and applying for new roles while keeping my LinkedIn job profile open.

Within a short time, I started getting invites for assessments, and boom, I landed a new role, tendered my resignation, and happily moved on. Thus making Lemonade with the Lemons Life threw at me in my previous place of work.
