The Limits of Artificial Intelligence: What It Creates, What It Simulates, and What It Will Never Have

AI doesn’t think or feel, it’s an advanced calculator. Lacking curiosity and purpose, it only simulates creativity. True evolution remains uniquely human.

The hype surrounding Artificial Intelligence sells the idea of an almost divine entity: omnipresent, infallible, and on the verge of surpassing the human mind in absolutely everything. But if you look past the panic of the hype, the reality becomes clear: AI is a great tool, but it is far from the conscious revolution many claim it to be.

It processes data at unbelievable speeds, summarizes texts, generates code, and creates images in seconds. But there is a very clear line between processing and existing.

Imagine a mathematician suddenly discovered that the true value of Pi is actually 5. If you try to talk to an AI about it, it will attempt to refute you and justify why you're wrong. Even if you try to prove to it that Pi is now 5, it won't accept it unless it undergoes retraining. This happens because AI lacks judgment, morals, or the capacity to be stubborn out of its own conviction. It can't truly change its mind because it never had a mind to begin with.

• It doesn't make mistakes on purpose to test a theory (and how can anything evolve without doing that?).
• It doesn't feel the discomfort of contradiction, because it doesn't even know what that is.

It has no opinion: what looks like an "opinion" is merely a probabilistic output derived from its training dataset and the rules programmed by its creators.

Human curiosity is born from doubt, the need to solve problems, and above all, survival. We investigate the world because we need to understand our environment in order to evolve.

AI has no curiosity. It doesn't wake up in the middle of the night with an existential question or a sudden burst of inspiration. AI only responds when prompted. Without a click from a user or a script invocation, it is absolute void.

What we label as "creativity" in AI is just the statistical recombination of things humans have already created. It has learned to fake comprehension perfectly, but the act stops the exact moment processing ends.
The absence of purpose and character progression

Anyone who plays video games knows the rewarding feeling of watching a character level up: you start weak, learn mechanics, overcome challenges, and feel the sense of progression. In real life, the logic is identical. Humans seek purpose, learn from mistakes, and feel the reward of growth because we have a sense of time, the future, and finitude.

AI knows nothing of this. For an AI, processing the world's most complex codebase or generating a cake recipe requires the exact same total absence of feeling. The life of an AI is without purpose,if we can even call a stack of algorithms and statistics "life."

At the end of the day, AI is simply the most advanced calculator we have ever invented. It tremendously expands our execution capacity, but it cannot replace the human spark. Intention, pain, purpose, stubbornness, and the drive to push further remain exclusively ours. Treating AI like a god or a monster ignores a basic truth: it is merely a mirror of what we have already produced.

Perhaps one day, when there is enough raw computing power to allow an AI to retrain its own model in real-time, we might finally start to believe that AI has become human-like.
