A razor is a way of making a decision with only partial information.

Like, it is usually the simpler explanation, if you have two theories that work.

But, that get misapplied when you do not have full theories that explain all the aspects.

Partial information like we don't know what other influences are upon an object? This rock will accelerate according to this gravitational constant and proximity to other masses unless an unknown factor also applies. Is this a razor or an invalid law?

I used to argue in Physics class that a rock would fall faster than a feather in a vaccuum because it is exerting more gravitation pull on the Earth. This was an exception to the accepted scientific teaching. He tried to accomodate by saying they do fall at the same rate when dropped together.
