Would You Like To Know How My Day Went?
Christmas Day is gone, and even though we’re still in its season, the countdown has already begun and now every one of us will be waiting for the New Year. This time, everyone will be up to celebrate it, not only Christians and it’ll be fun as usual.
My Christmas went great, and I kept my word to actually leave my humble abode so as to actually have some fun and enjoy myself. And that’s what I did. It was a hectic day, and before I knew it, things went out of hand so other plans had to be made to make sure nothing happened.
I hit the road immediately after making my post, and one of the first surprises of the day was just how free it was. It was obvious that many people didn’t come back home for the holidays and many of them that came home, decided to stay indoors to celebrate it. Fewer cars were on the road, and this translated to faster trips. But then, this could also be because it was early in the day and too soon for the major activities that were to happen.
I was going to the village to see my family, but I didn’t want to go empty-handed. So, I decided to stop over at Shoprite Owerri. That’s where I planned to watch the movie I told you guys yesterday, but I was fooled. The free roads got into my head and made me believe that not a lot of people came out, and I was shocked. I got to Shoprite and I was wowed by the amount of people I saw there.
And funny enough, I didn’t notice it at first. The supermarket was big enough that people were spaced out in a way that I couldn’t tell it was crowded. When I went to pay for what I got, that’s when I saw the queues and queues at every check-out stand. It was then I knew I was done for.
The first two lines I stayed in didn’t seem to be moving because it seemed everyone there bought heaven and earth and checking them out was taking forever. I had to go to the very first stand at the extreme of the supermarket, at least that one was moving at a pace I could accommodate. By the time I had paid for my stuff, I had spent over two hours at the mall. The way time flew by, I had no idea!
I knew immediately that I couldn’t see the movie anymore because Aquaman is over two hours and by the time it’s over, I’d be getting to my village way too late for me to do anything enjoyable and return. So, I abandoned the cinema idea and promised to go there the next day, on my way back to school.
So, I continued my journey to see my family, and boy was it fun! Everyone was happy to see me because, for many of them, it’s been over a year since they saw me last. I went to a neighboring village to see my aunt and she was also happy to see me. She was really helpful to me back when I just gained admission during my ND1 days and her input was valuable. So, going to the village without paying her a visit would have been sacrilege on my part. I’m not built that way.
I spent some time at her place and as it was getting late, I decided to return to my own village. Halfway there, I saw a masquerade festival taking place. It was almost dark, and so the pictures I took didn’t come out too well and the masquerade was also moving way too fast. However, the moment I saw the masquerades and entourage, I knew that I was canceling all thoughts of returning home that night.
The traffic I would see ehn, would make me regret leaving school in the first place. Right there and then I stayed back to take pictures and enjoy the festival, and by the time it was over, I returned home where I had my last meal for the day, watched movies for a while on my phone, and went to bed.
Now, I was supposed to return to the mall this morning to see the movie, right? Well, I still couldn’t. You see, my aunt gave me foodstuff to take with me, and my family also gave me something to take home. It was just too heavy for me to be stopping all over the place, and considering how I’d have to leave everything outside before going into the cinema, I canceled the idea yet again. I told myself that I would do it on another day.
So, I’m back in my humble abode and I’m quite happy. It was an eventful trip and I’m happy I made it. I got so much more than when coming back than I took with me and it made me happy. I have plans to return when my village would host their own masquerade festival, and that would be an interesting event, one I wouldn’t miss for anything.
So, I had a really happy Christmas. And that’s how my day went. I look forward to more interesting days ahead.
I wish you all a happy Boxing Day!
I guess our days were opposite.mine was so boring to the core
Oh boy... sorry about that.
I hope the New Year celebrations go better for you.
Wow, what a day you had Bruno
. hope it wasn't a far distance you did on a Christmas day..u should have stayed back instead of coming back to your abode same day. Anyways, glad you had a nice time with all the goodies you returned home with..
Hopefully u will create time to see the movie before or after the new year
27th is the date
Congratulations in Addy 😇
Yeah... I'll surely make out time to see it.
The date has been shifted to 29th. Something came up, that's why.
But it won't go beyond Friday. 😊
Alright, 29th is here
All the best
You did have a wonderful Christmas, unlike mine it was boring and full house chores
Hehe... mine would have been full of house chores as well if I had returned to Lagos. 😂
You must be glad you didn't
If I was the one that witnessed the masquerade festival while going to visit my friend, I may turn back
I’m always scared of those things sha, lol
Nah... masquerades don't attack people anymore. So, you can comfortably watch them. If you come with a car, you can observe from the comfort of your car.😊
People shop during festive periods as if there is Zombie outbreak coming soon, malls are always packed. I went to one today, it was a little bit packed even though Christmas has passed.
Omo... it's very annoying ehn. And the queues at the checkout stations are just intimidating. If I had noticed it at first, I wouldn't have bought anything.
It is annoying when it looks like the queues aren't moving.
In a word it was an amazing day for you but you didn't expect a queue in the market 😅. I can understand but I feel all of them also come there to buy things like you.
Exactly, just like me, everyone else as trying to have a good Christmas.
Thank you for this.
Hope you had time to take adequate and quality rest as it is needed for your body
Omo... I've been doing that.
Thank you!
It's good to hear you are enjoying the holidays. The impromptu shopping you did at Owerri must have been exciting and I hope you were able to get all the gifts intended for your family. I wish you more happiness this holiday season and definitely in the coming new year.
Happy Boxing Day to you too. Going out on festive periods can be like that. It as if the whole city is out in one place, that’s why I don’t like going out on festive holidays.
