What If...

These days, it is very much possible to wake up and realize that you have a child somewhere that you never knew about. Or even worse, you’ve been raising a child you had no idea was not yours to begin with. These things happen every day, and for some reason, it is becoming more and more rampant

But then, what if this is not a case of paternity fraud? What if you never had intercourse with anyone, but yet managed to have a child? How is that possible? What if, a human was made artificially from your DNA?

What if! What if!! What if!!! So many of these questions, it would be a crazy world we would be in when something like this becomes our norm. As it is, it won’t be out of place for me to actually believe that the world has gotten to a stage when humans can be created through complex scientific processes. And through the use of DNA, family members could be created for a particular individual.

2dk2RRM2dZ8gKjXsrozapsD83FxL3Xbyyi5LFttAhrXxr16mCe4arfLHA37mQtCuynkak9C9VAxm3nacdB7gLmLiZLuYVhHeNsRgxL6WKJoam3hs2B7ZLAp2jwaLFEwoAbLKzAfpv2DhtyvHbJunTbU58RMbxtkvefNK4qj8EA.png

And that is how you find out a child has been created for you, without your permission or knowledge. You just realize that there is a five or six-year-old out there, and you’re the parent. What does this change for you? Does the fact that the baby was made in the lab matter as much as if the baby was made the traditional way? Is this child also subject to the love, care, and attention that most children will get?

Normally, when you find out you have a child, you immediately want to be responsible for them. You know that even though the child was kept from you, you still played your part in making it. So you want to be a part of its life, you want to love and grow with it.

However, with this particular child, you really did nothing. Except maybe donate a few strands of hair that were more than enough for them to pull your DNA. You might not have made the baby, but your blood flows in their veins and you’ll be the closest thing to biological family they’ll have.

2dk2RRM2dZ8gKjXsrozapsD83FxL3Xbyyi5LFttAhrXxr16mCe4arfLHA37mQtCuynkak9C9VAxm3nacdB7gLmLiZLuYVhHeNsRgxL6WKJoam3hs2B7ZLAp2jwaLFEwoAbLKzAfpv2DhtyvHbJunTbU58RMbxtkvefNK4qj8EA.png

So, if I find myself in such a situation, what will I do? Honestly, I have no idea. It’ll be a pretty crazy scenario as I’ve said already, but let’s face the facts here. If such a thing was possible and humans could be created in the lab by scientists, then they would also have their rights and privileges. As long as they have that tag of “human”, we can’t deny them their rights. It doesn’t matter whether they developed in the womb of a woman or in a tank within the hallowed walls of a semi-lit laboratory.

The rights part is logic, so that will be easy, What won’t be easy to come by is actually love. Because apart from the fact that the baby was made from my DNA, there’s nothing tying me to the baby. I literally did nothing, and even worse, the crazy scientists that made the baby chose not to tell me until they were done.

I’m not saying that such babies would not be loved, they might be loved if their parent DNA is gotten from the scientists that made them, or if actual parents decided they wanted children through that means. But other than that, springing such a secret like that on me, and finding it in my heart to love such a kid may be hard. It won’t be impossible, just hard.

Anyway, at least for the next couple of years we won’t have to worry about such. If humans are already being created in the lab, it’s probably to advance science and healthcare. And I’m sure that the scientists there do not really care about pesky things like human rights.

I was just thinking, and this struck me. Can’t really remember why the thought crossed my mind though, but I chose to share it with you all. What do you think?

As in ehn... just plant a baby they don't want and watch them go insane!
I hope it doesn't happen as well, it'll be a storm😁
Thank you for reading.

I don't want to think of such happening but the truth is that technology has reached a point where all these things are possible.

If suddenly I discover that I have a child that was scientifically developed, I will show him or her love just like every other child but because it carries my DNA doesn't make him or her my child.

Hehe... this is another spin to the whole issue. I guess there are other things that make family besides sharing DNA. Makes sense.
Thank you.

Honestly this is strucking @bruno-kema . The world has gone so civilized and so scientific. Sometimes we don't know what to expect again. Crazy things keep happening but I think this very issue is a critical one. It will definitely be madness for any one to venture in such a game. Everyone has their decision to make in life concerning having children, at the right time and with the right person he or she chooses. This very circumstances is unacceptable. Thanks for sharing this food for thought @bruno-kema. Blissful week ahead.

Oh, people have done way worse. I'm certain that if people can do it, it'll be done. Although in such a case, there will be heavy red tape to make sure such things are not abused. After all, the government still has to keep the population in check.

Thank you.
