Over the years, civilization has evolved from what it used to be into what we all enjoy and love today. And not just that, we also have technology that has been evolving at a steady pace. The technology of today is a far cry from what it used to be hundred years ago. The growth was not spontaneous, it was slow and hard to come by. But it was done.

Technology is now a critical part of our lives, we make use of it in our homes, schools, markets, and places of worship. As a matter of fact, it is quite impossible to have a normal life without technology. Trying to have one will be considered abnormal by the majority of the world’s population.

And as technology has grown, it has also become important in our lives to the extent that we need it. Our phones are now fully functional computers that have an array of uses, and when we take the phone about, we can be carrying a calendar, watch, library, and loads of other applications as well.

As it turns out, while technology keeps getting better and better, making life easier for all of us, we all are slowly getting hooked on it and becoming addicted to such a life.

I remember during my primary school days when my school teacher used to force the entire class to learn the multiplication table. This was so that during math equations, we could easily work out solutions rather than search around for calculators. Back then, many of us did not even have calculators, and we all had to learn the tables.

In this day and age, many of us no longer bother having the tables off heart because we have come to see that having it does not really mean much, especially when you have a phone that can do it all.

Phones these days are being designed to make you to always be operating them. They can no longer be limited to just making calls and sending text messages. They have a wide variety of uses now, from entertainment to education. You will just keep on using it, every time, running the battery down until the phone gets spoilt then you buy the next one.

More and more apps keep coming up every day, and the apps are also being designed to be constantly used. The creators keep them updated with features that will always bring you coming back.

Many of us cannot go a single hour without touching our phones, unless of course we are asleep. That is just how important it is to us.

2dk2RRM2dZ8gKjXsrozapsD83FxL3Xbyyi5LFttAhrXxr16mCe4arfLHA37mQtCuynkak9C9VAxm3nacdB7gLmLiZLuYVhHeNsRgxL6WKJoam3hs2B7ZLAp2jwaLFEwoAbLKzAfpv2DhtyvHbJunTbU58RMbxtkvefNK4qj8EA.png

Thanks to technology, many things have been made easier for us. Things that normally required a lot of work and stress now have been reduced to simple pushes of buttons, pulling of livers, or tapping of a flat screen. And you will have what you want to be done perfectly. So many devices and gadgets in our homes that are being used on a daily basis to make our lives easier and more comfortable.

So, I had this question… if we were to live without technology, how would life be? If all phones suddenly ceased to operate, all cars came to a halt and never moved. Basically, anything at all that was basically made by man would just stop functioning.

I thought about this and realized just how heavily reliant the world had become on these gadgets. They are basically running the world now because if such a thing were to happen everything will become a standstill. So we keep using them, and we become addicted.

As I had said earlier, many of us are addicted to smartphones, some are addicted to TV, some feel so lazy for ordinary walks that they order rides for even the tiniest errands they want to run… the list goes on and on. This addiction is getting stronger as more gadgets are being invented and they are being made to become even more indispensable to man.

Almost everything is going smart these days, from the home to the cars, to watches and what have you. These things synchronize all your devices and give you regular updates no matter where you are. This eliminates a lot of problems but it also increases our reliance on them.

But then what can we do?

I know technology is great and helpful, but sometimes doing certain things ourselves helps a lot. When you rely on technology too much you have a lot of free time on your hands, and other issues come up from there. You can only do technology when you absolutely need to.

If the journey is not that far, walk it. Instead of using that calculator, use your head instead. It will make you smarter and more of a genius with numbers. There are many other instances as well, but those are for another day.

What I am simply saying is that we all should be careful when making use of technology. While it could be helping us out in our day-to-day life, it could also be harming us as well. and we would not know until it was too late.

Honestly, life would not be what we are enjoying today at all. But still, we have to be the ones controlling them, not them controlling us.
Or what do you think?

Technology has made most of us lazy, me in particular 🙈🙈🤣🤣
My son came back the other day with a simple mathematics and needed my guide. I quickly clicked on calculator on my phone 🤦🤦, chai lazy me...hahaha

But I later came back to my senses and guided him manually without the help of technology . This made him to think more and send his brain to work instead of the short cut.

In as much as Technology makes a lot of work easier for us, we shouldn't engage it too much in our academics for our own good.

Thanks for sharing lovely contents as usual 👍

That is technology for you, everything has been made so much easier. Computers now do the heavy thinking for us while our brains just relax.

While it could be helping us out in our day-to-day life, it could also be harming us as well. and we would not know until it was too late.

This point hit differently because I can somehow relate to this.
Broken homes, relationship due to lack of care and attention.
Imagine having a conversation with someone and they are busy with their phone how annoying 😏😏 truth be told many homes don't have heart to heart conversation with their kids or spouse again because of the use of phone.
I just hope we don't realize the damage when it's too late.

(Edited)

You are right, no more heart-to-heart conversations, and the things that parents should have mentored their children on are now being taught to them by the internet. A very bad substitute indeed.
Thank you for reading.

You just hit the nail on the head. I agree with all you wrote, just like you said
"Many of us cannot go a single hour without touching our phones, unless of course we are asleep. That is just how important it is to us".
My phone is my office, I receive most instructions and work communications with my phone. Thank God for power bank🙈
Beautiful write up.
Thanks for sharing
