Dry... But Not That Dry!!!
The year is coming to a close and I must say, it’s one of the worst times for the nation to be experiencing a cash crunch. Almost everywhere you go these days, there is no cash at all. You can’t make withdrawals and when you buy stuff, you can’t get change. It’s just annoying, that’s all.
Normally, this shouldn’t be such a big deal. But how can it not? Running transfers to traders come at a cost and not many of us are happy about that. This means that if you go to the same store ten times to buy stuff, and you run ten transfers, you’ll have to pay charges ten times! It’s insane.
Sadly, it’s not just in my locality. I also noticed it was happening in my village as well while I was there. I don’t know if it’s worse off there or better, but I do know for sure that they’re having some cash flow issues. Thankfully, I managed to gather enough cash before hitting the road, or I would have been stranded.
It’s sad that at a time like this when people should have even more access to money so they can do whatever they want, we have to struggle and fight for it. We have to pay through our noses just for something that’s ours. Money that could have been added to maybe the gas bill, or the transport fare, would go to some POS agent just because the banks decided that it was a great idea to keep our money from us.
But then, other than the money bit, the holiday isn’t going that bad, I must admit. Matter of fact, I’m kind of enjoying the vibes I’m getting right now, and I wonder what this says about me. Since I stay in a school environment, and the majority of the people who populate here are students, many of whom traveled for the holidays, this place is nothing more than a ghost town these days. Matter of fact, it looks like an abandoned town that’s on its way to becoming a desert especially when the dry air gets to you.
And one more thing? The quiet. All through the year, this is the only time when there is actual peace and tranquility in the neighborhood, and boy it’s sweet! In the last 48 hours, I’ve not heard a single drone of a generator coming on. And the last one I did hear, was mine! This should tell you just how quiet it is. No loud voices or loud music irritating my ears as people go about their day-to-day lives.
I really like it as there are few people around, and I wonder what this says about me. This is because having too many people around is such a hassle. The water lasts longer, the power stays on for longer due to reduced load. At night, no one knocks on your door to ask for dumb stuff, and people could just assume you’re not home and leave you the hell alone! I’m literally having the time of my life right now!
But then, there’s a downside to this! And that’s for shops. Since the majority of the students have gone, that’s more than 90% of the clientele of the traders who have traveled, so many of them are not opened during this period. So, if you’ve not stocked up prior to all this, then you’re in for a hungry couple of days even if you have all the cash in the world because there will be no one to sell jack to you. Unless you want to buy petrol. Those guys never close!
Either way, I guess we can’t have it all. Just as I love it for something, I also have to hate it for something. The holiday will be over soon and everyone will come back. The noise and disturbances will return, but then shops will open up once again, and maybe, just maybe, this cash thingamajiggy will be a thing of the past.

Thank you for this!!
One thing that annoys me is that those POS people will now add more money to their charges
It is not fair but I’m glad I’ve got enough cash😅
It's not fair ooo. Very annoying set of people!
Hehe. It's seems you are the king of the place in the current time.
You are a person who love peace and you are enjoying the peaceful environment. I believe I would love to enjoy it like you.
Unfortunately it's temporary.
Yeah... it's only temporary. Anyway, I just want things to go back to usual...
This year didn't actually go as planned but I believe next year will be much more better
Yeah, I hope so too.
