December Fun Is Not So Hard!!!
December is that time of the year when memories are made, fond memories that will make everyone smile when they look back on it. Some years will always be more memorable than others, and no matter how much we try to recreate it, it just might never get back to that peak that we loved again. It might get close, but just never hit the mark.
So, just like everyone else, I have memories of the holidays that I look back on with fondness. Memories that I wish with all sincerity can be recreated. But then, thanks to the situation of the country, things and things keep on happening and we find it hard to just do as we would like.
For me, my fondest Christmas memory is not from my childhood. I have one that fits the bill, right down to the tee. But I have another one that’s more recent. And that was two Christmas ago, so the December of 2021, I think. That was the last Christmas I did in Lagos.
You see, I spent it with my family and it was an enjoyable moment. It was full of fun and laughter because everyone was present. My brother and his wife and kids, my sister and her wife and kids. Everyone was available, and it was just one fun thing to another as we enjoyed the season together.
Back then, I also had a bit of money, so I was able to enjoy the season as I wanted. I was already working and earning a little, but since I was living with my family, my spending was minimal. So, I went all out in embracing the Christmas spirit. I tried to be the rich uncle who was going to spoil my nephew and nieces with money; I tried, but I didn't quite get to that point... yet. Hehe!
And the thing about us is that, when everyone is around, the house can never be quiet. Someone is always talking, and our voices can be pretty loud, especially the children. But my Mom enjoyed every bit of it. This was because it was that one time of the year when we all would be gathered at the same time. other times, it was hard getting us all at the same time.
So, it’s always fun when the entire family is back under one roof. Since then, I’ve not spent Christmas with them. In 2022, I returned to Owerri and I spent Christmas alone. Not because of anything, just that I wanted to be alone. That was my first time spending the season alone and I wanted to see how it would go for me. I actually enjoyed it, but that could just be my introvert self speaking.
Anyway, it’s going to be a different story this year. I know I can’t go to Lagos, so I’ll be going to my village to spend some fews. LOl!! There I’ll be with extended family, my favorite aunt, and many of the friends I made during the pandemic when I was there.
Since this year, I’ve not really visited my village, and considering how it’s in the same state as I am, that’s sad. Which is why I’m making up for it by choosing to spend what is left of the season in the village.
At the moment, so many things are happening. In my personal life, in the economy, and in the world at large… many of these are contributing factors to why that favorite memory of mine can’t be recreated. However, as time passes, I sure hope that the coming years will be more merciful. I hope that by the next holidays, every one of us will be under one roof enjoying the joys of the season together.

Thank you for this!
Spending the holidays with people you love matters a lot, and wanting to recreate the holiday you spent with your family, but not able to, no matter how the economy is, there will surely be a day when what you wished for will come to pass.
Don't forget to share your experiences in the village. I'll be waiting for your next post. Have a wonderful Christmas.
Yeah... I look forward to that as well.
Merry Christmas to you too! Have a good one!!
Thank you.
Lovely one @bruno-kema. The most joyous time for parents is during when all their children come together, especially during celebration. And seeing their grandchildren is another happiness that nothing can exceed.
And you tried too by being the big uncle. Kids always love 💕 things like that. Happy Holidays 🎄🎉❤️
Yeah... I love being the big uncle! I would so so much more, it it wasn't so damn expensive!😂
It's all great, though.
Compliments of the season.
I always like it too when my house is full. I mean when everyone is around. It makes me very happy
I like that!
Yeah... I just love it!
I think recreating the memory of you is not so easy because it's not only dependent on you. Besides many things has changed in this last to years. It's my personal believe that doesn't matter how much we try we can never be never be able to recreate the memory because somehow something will be different.
It's not easy ooo. There are so many things that come to play and for all of us to be together, we'd have to see to every one of them.
Christmas is more fun and enjoyable when it's spent with families and friends. Everyone might not agree to this but I think it is, judging from my experiences.
I feel the same way, and I'm speaking from tons of experience as well!😂
😅😅
My single prayer is for me to have this Christmas how it goes
I am still trying to build my fun level for this Christmas actually
Yeah. 😀
It is exactly like this, within this month we see that there are holidays, people make holidays together with each other. Well, every person's life is very busy and they don't get a chance to meet each other during these days. Enjoys a lot.
