FACTORY BY THE SEA

avatar
(Edited)

A week or so ago, I had to do some stuff in the city early in the morning. The city in question is Pula, the nearest one to my small town.

(Enlargeable)

The weather was cold but sunny, it looked like a good day for a walk and a bit of photographing so after getting rid of some chores in the city's center, I drove to the suburban neighborhood of Stoia ...

(Enlargeable)

... and parked there by the sea.

Stoia has been an industrial, working-class neighborhood since the late eighteen hundreds.

(Enlargeable)

Nowadays only one seaside factory is active in that area.

(Enlargeable)

It's a cement factory.

(Enlargeable)

Through the photographs presented in today's post, you'll see a bit of work being done in the factory and I'll show you some stuff around it as well.

(Enlargeable)

There is a small harbor near the cement factory.

(Enlargeable)

These boats probably belong to people who live in Stoja.

(Enlargeable)

"Mali Ribar" sounds like a nice, descriptive name for a boat like the one shown in this and the previous photograph. The name means "Litlle Fisherman" in English.

(Enlargeable)

This is the showiest boat I saw that day in the small harbor near the factory.

(Enlargeable)

With its vivid red color, it stood out from the rest.

(Enlargeable)

Some buoys on which the boats were moored were also showy.

(Enlargeable)

With this red one being the showiest.

(Enlargeable)

This blue one was well camouflaged in its marine environment.

(Enlargeable)

Mostly due to the small black circle near its top, the buoy shown in this photograph looked like the head of some unknown sea animal.

(Enlargeable)

This green one resembles a big fat maggot.

(Enlargeable)

While I was collecting the buoys ...

... one of the chimneys of the nearby factory was busy expelling the smoke. It was a pretty photogenic smoke that looked especially good in motion. That's why I took a series of consecutive shots and created two animated GIFs out of them.

(Enlargeable)

Under the chimney, a loader was transporting the materials needed in the cement production.

Here you can see a seagull caught flying above the chimney.

(Enlargeable)

This photograph shows the distant buildings across the bay. These were military barracks from the first decades of the 20th century to the early two thousand.
One of those buildings is currently being restructured to be turned into a hotel.

(Enlargeable)

This military building from the same period is still abandoned.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see some big, rusty, industrial things situated a bit further along the same shore.
The following photograph ...

(Enlargeable)

... shows one of the boats brought to land for repairs near the seaside parking lot where I left my car.

Here you can see some red and white industrial constructions reflected in the cabin of another boat there near the parking lot.

(Enlargeable)

Across the parking lot, I photographed some industrial structures that don't look functional anymore.

(Enlargeable)

The gate that leads to them was closed and locked.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see more boats that need repairs.

(Enlargeable)

This is a portrait of the friend who was there with me.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can take another look at the work that was going on in the cement factory.

(Enlargeable)

And that's it. The chimney was still smoking as I was driving away.

AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.

The Seagull is brave enough to fly above the chimney, it could end up as a grilled seagull.

Should I say this is the best post I seen on here today? Because that seagull got some courage to fly above the chimney. I wouldn't try that if I was him

lovely shots man. Most large industry can be seen on the bank of a river to use its water and then release waste! I hope the cement industry doesn't do that. Though I don't know if a cement factory has waste to dump there.😂

It's good that there are other small towns along with your village, there are villages where you go to visit, it refreshes one's mind a lot, one gets to see and learn many new things.
