It's a tree that grows by the side of a dusty unpaved road, one of the roads that lead through the coastal area called Palera, only a kilometer or little more from the village of Liznjan, and four or five kilometers from where I live.

I encounter that tree very often becouse Palera isn't far and I like the place a lot but only a couple of hours ago I decided to create an entire post about it.

All the photographs I'm presenting here were taken on the 9th of October.

My area was still pretty early in autumn back then.

Some of the leaves were still green, others were red or in various stages in between those two colors.

The cherry tree looked great in that period.

The surrounding vegetation was also very photogenic. Here you can see the partially dry fern surrounded by green shrubs.

The blackberry shrubs (Rubus ulmifolius) still had fruits to offer. In the following photograph ...

... I zoomed in on the beautiful red berries. The ripe fruits are black, meaning the berries shown in this and the previous photograph look much better than they taste.

You can see the fern photographed in two, slightly different ways in these two photographs. I mean, the exposure was different.
The scientific name of this particular fern is Pteridium aquilinum.

The scientific name of the cherry tree is Prunus avium.

... a lady on a bicycle entered the scene.

The Rosa sempervirens plant was growing along the trunk of the tree.

Rosa sempervirens is a species of evergreen wild rose that grows as a climbing plant.

The always-green leaves and a multitude of red fruits look great together in autumn. The flowers are white.

The vegetation around the tree was pretty exuberant. I used the flash for the photograph on the left. The photograph on the right shows the same scene in ambient light. The exposure was longer.

I was standing under the cherry tree when I took this photograph. You can see one of the branches, the road, and the friend who was there with me.

Some of these beautiful red leaves would fall in the following days.

Others were already on the ground on the 9th of October.

On the way back home, I stopped for a couple of minutes in the parking lot near the football field of the small Football Club Liznjan situated on the outskirts of the village...

... to watch the sun going down.

The next stop was in the harbor of Medulin, my hometown.

The incandescent disc of the sun had reached the tops of the pines across the bay when I prepared the camera to get this photograph.

I followed the sun like I'll never see it again.

At one point, a crow flew across the scene.

The boats in the harbor were motionless. The sea was a liquid mirror.

It was time to go home.
