When we talk about water treatment, there are different processes involved that can filter out germs, bacterias and dangerous substances making it purer to be used for various purposes not only limited to the domestic aspect alone but also to the industrial aspect. In fact there are a lot of things a water that is not yet treated which can not be used in some industrial purposes.

  • Coagulation and Flocculation: The water treatment process begins with coagulation, where chemicals are added to the water to destabilize impurities and form larger particles. Flocculation follows, where these particles are gently mixed to form larger clumps called flocs.
  • Sedimentation: In this step, the floc-laden water is allowed to sit undisturbed, allowing the heavier flocs to settle at the bottom of the treatment basin. The clarified water at the top is then ready for further treatment.
  • Filtration: The water passes through various filters, such as sand, gravel, and activated carbon, which remove remaining suspended particles, microorganisms, and certain chemicals.
  • Disinfection: Disinfection is crucial to eliminate harmful microorganisms. Chlorine, ozone, ultraviolet (UV) light, and other disinfectants are commonly used to ensure the destruction of pathogens.
  • Desalination (if needed): In areas with limited freshwater sources, desalination processes such as reverse osmosis are employed to remove salt and minerals from seawater, making it suitable for consumption.

In as much as we have the processes for water treatment to be carried out effectively, there are still technologies that can be used for water treatment to aid the complete process done on the waters.

  • Reverse Osmosis: This technology uses a semipermeable membrane to separate water molecules from dissolved salts and impurities. It's a common method in desalination and purifying brackish water.
  • Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection: UV light is used to disrupt the DNA of microorganisms, rendering them inactive and preventing their reproduction. UV treatment is effective against bacteria, viruses, and parasites.
  • Activated Carbon Filtration: Activated carbon has a high surface area and is capable of adsorbing organic compounds, chlorine, and certain chemicals, thus improving water taste and odor.
  • Ion Exchange: This process involves exchanging ions in the water with ions of the same charge from a resin bed. It's commonly used to remove hardness-causing ions like calcium and magnesium.

Life is meaningless without water. God created it for so many purposes. Water is friendly to everyone and is never harsh😊😊😊😂 but can be harsh😡😡😡😡 when not properly cared for and treated. Water goes through some rigorous process for it to be good for consumption like the writer has stated above. You just upgraded my knowledge about water purification process today and thank you for that. Good water is essential for good health. Consumption of poor quality water leads to waterborne infectious diseases. It's better the people are clearly advice on how to purify their water at home before consumption, to help reduce the burden on healthcare professionals. Safe water protects everyone from bad health. Take in good water in appropriate amount for a healthy kidney.

Caring for your kidneys are more expensive than getting adequate and proper water.
