Tobacco in Europe🙇♂️🧠/El tabaco en europa🧭📚
Tobacco is not a plant that is native to Europe; on the contrary, it comes from South America. However, its production expanded to Central America. In the era of discoveries, Spain was the first European country to market tobacco throughout Europe! When Portugal colonized Brazil in the 16th century, the tobacco fashion reached Brazil who would be the main producers of Tobacco for the Portuguese and it is at this point that Portugal also began to market it to its colonies or allied countries!📚🧠🌏

Trade between Portugal and China🙇♂️🧠/Comercio entre Portugal y China🧭📚
The history of the introduction of tobacco in China was thanks to the Portuguese Asian trade since Macau was a Portuguese colony in the mid-16th century, it was a monopoly that belonged to the King of Portugal at that time, even though tobacco had been introduced into Europe by Spain. and yet China also produced its own tobacco, the best tobacco in the highlands due to its concentration was the Portuguese which was called "Amostrinha Portuguesa", none could compete with the purity and quality of the product that was of Brazilian origin and whose middle leaves of the yellowish stem were processed in Lisbon! It was quite expensive and popular back then!🧠🍂🍁

The Brazilian tobacco was the best par excellence for its purity and quality, the leaves went through a meticulous process and were cured with spices and oils, this gave a sweet aroma and "flavor", to follow the process consisted of pulverizing the leaves until making a powder that would then be treated with vinegar or alcohol, often boiled, finally and to finish the process, aromas from jasmine or rose and even mint were added!👀🧭🌏
When powdered tobacco became popular in China, the emperor used the product as a symbol of prestige and power to the point of appearing at his meetings with other people of high social status. He always had his "snuff bottle" in his hand, according to experts. On the subject, the most popular and beautiful snuff bottles that were manufactured were those between 1660-1740, glass being the main raw material! At the end of the 17th century, snuffing rapè was popular among the population and it was the height where the product became most popular! However, in the 19th century the snuff trade and industry fell in Asia! but on the other side of the world in North America is when it becomes popular and even in Europe even in the 19th century rapè was used!🌾🌿🙇♂️

These were one of the most popular and belong to the private collection of the Portuguese: "Manuel Texeira", as you can see almost all glass and porcelain some made of wood, never plastic! The Chinese took the business very seriously, making works of manual arts with hundreds of details, many were personalized, others were royalty! I liked visiting the museum, even though it was a short tour, I learned a lot about this product, which I didn't know about and didn't have. idea that Portugal had introduced it to China!📚🙇♂️🎎
