Hello friends, we completed a new adventure in the high mountains of Sintra in the Lisbon district. Although we are 30km from the historic center, this area has a particular characteristic: it is part of a "meteorological" anomaly, making it an isolated microclimate in Portugal, something not seen in other parts of the country. This unique feature makes the trail we will complete today, the "PR11", have some "brutal" landscapes. Enjoy the experience.🚩😁⛰️

Hola amigos, completamos una nueva aventura en las sierras altas de Sintra en el distrito de Lisboa, y es que apesar que estamos a 30km del casco historico esta zona tiene una caracteristica particular y es que forma parte de un accidente "meteorologico" convirtiendola en un microclima aislado de Portugal, cosa que no se ve en otra parte del pais, y esta singularidad, hace que el sendero que completaremos hoy el: "PR11" tenga unos paisajes "brutales", disfruta de la experiencia.🌷🧭🚙

It's time to end the discussion about which is the most beautiful nature reserve in Portugal, and I won't include "Serra da Estrela", "San Mamede", or "Montejunto" because in my opinion they don't compete with either of the other two in terms of landscapes and history. It's time to draw on my hundreds of kilometers of experience in both, and after having completed all the trails, to give a very realistic conclusion.😁🚩

Es momento de acabar la discusion de cual es la reserva natural mas bonita de Portugal, y no incluire "Serra de Estrela" "San Mamede" "Montejunto" porque a mi parecer no compiten con ninguna de las dos en paisajes e historia, ES MOMENTO DE MIS CIENTOS DE KILOMETROS DE EXPERIENCIA EN AMBAS Y LUEGO DE HABER COMPLETADO TODOS LOS SENDEROS DAR UNA CONCLUSION bien realista.🌏🌊

To be honest, I have a real soft spot for Arrábida. I've had some of my best hiking experiences there, and I almost lost my life twice, haha. Those two dangerous spots are captured in HIVE. I remember when I took an "unofficial" trail I called "Trilho Azul" (Blue Trail). I slipped down the mountainside and was less than half a meter from falling, and only my trekking poles held me up. I have such exciting memories of these beautiful mountains! And they are incredibly demanding, even for the most experienced hikers.🌷⛰️🚩

Les soy sincero tengo una gran debilidad por la Arrabida, en ella vivi las mejores experiencia de Senderismo, en ella casi pierdo la vida dos veces jeje, y en esos dos sitios peligroso quedaron plasmados en HIVE, recuerdo cuando hice un sendero "no oficial" al que llame "Trilho azul" me resbale por la ladera de la montana y estuve a menos de medio metro de caer y solo me sostuvo los bastones de excursion, tengo recuerdos muy excitantes de estas hermosas montanas!! y que es super exigente para los mas experimentados.😅😍

Because Arrabida is...- Por que Arrabida es...

Both mountain ranges are close to Lisbon, between 30-40km. While Sintra belongs to Lisbon, Arrábida belongs to Setúbal. Arrábida is wild, extreme, and isolated. Many places in this mountain range lack access to public transport, and most tourists and adventurers come here in rental vehicles; there's no other way. Sintra is more pampered, more "loved," with numerous transport options covering almost half of its range, but it also has many isolated areas. Therefore, I conclude: Arrábida is more extreme and isolated, and therefore quieter and less touristy.😅😁😱

Ambas Sierras estan proxima de Lisboa entre 30-40km mientras Sintra pertenece a Lisboa, Arrabida pertenece a Setubal, Arrabida es salvaje, es extrema, es aislada, muchos de los sitios de esta montana no tienen acceso a transporte publico y la mayoria de turistas y aventureros vienen aca con vehiculo alquilado, NO HAY DE OTRA.... Sintra es mas mimada, mas "querida", tiene demasiados transportes que recorren casi la mitad de su sierra pero... Tambien tiene muchas zonas aisladas... POR ELLO CONCLUYO.... ARRABIDA ES MAS EXTREMA Y AISLADA, POR ELLO MAS TRANQUILA Y MENOS TURISTAS...🚎🧭🌏

Vegetation of the mountain range🚩🌷

This coastal mountain range shares no characteristics with Sintra, the only difference being that it is believed to be of volcanic origin, dating back more than 80 million years. Esta sierra litoral no comparte ningun tipo de caracteristica con Sintra con la unica diferencia es que se cree que son de origenes volcanicas de hace mas de 80 millones de anos, sus playas y su fuerte sol es muy solicitado para los turistas que buscan de calor y broncearse, y su vegetacion mediterranica resalta con algunos arbustos y pinos.🗺️🚩

Sintra is similar to Arrábida, but the vegetation is different; it's more humid and varied, and the temperature is lower. While in Arrábida we don't see tall trees, here there are trees many meters high. But Sintra isn't characterized by its vegetation; on the contrary, it's known for its palaces...😱😁

Sintra es parecida a Arrabida, pero con la diferencia es que la vegetacion es diferente, es mas humeda y variable, ademas la temperatura mas baja, mientras en la Arrabida no vemos arboles altos aqui hay arboles de muchos metros de altura, pero Sintra no es caracteristica por su vegetacion por el contrario POR SUS PALACIOS...😅😍

The trail is only 5km long, quite short, and can be done in 2 hours, although that will depend on your pace. Is it suitable for the whole family? Yes, I think so. When there's no climbing involved and there are roads nearby, it's safe to go with even the little ones! You can't get lost because it's a loop; you return to the starting point.🧭🌏

El sendero es apenas de 5km bastante corto, y se puede realizar en 2 horas, claro eso dependera de tu ritmo pero consigues, es apto para toda la familia? si creo que si, cuando no hay que escalar nada y hay carreteras se puede ir seguro con los mas pequenos! no tiene perdida porque ademas es circular vuelves al punto de inicio.🚩🌷

Yes... a few months ago we suffered through three storms that hit the country and caused destruction never before seen in Portugal, cities and villages swallowed by water, paths completely destroyed, as I just discovered today :( how sad... How many years will it take for this to recover...😩😞

si... hace unos meses sufrimos por tres tormentas que golpearon el pais y causaron una destruccion nunca antes vista en Portugal, ciudades y aldeas tragadas por agua, senderos destruidos totalmente, como acabo de descubrir hoy :( que tristeza... Cuantos anos pasaran para que esto se recupere...😱😒

These events cannot be directly linked to climate change, but everything suggests that if they intensify the destruction they cause, I've seen many interviews of people saying, "In my 50 years living here, I've never seen anything like this." Coincidence? Who knows? What I do know is that we must take the issue of pollution seriously and begin taking measures to leave a much healthier and cleaner planet for our children.😱😒

no se puede relacionar estos eventos con el cambio climatico pero todo implica que si intensifican los destrozos que hacen, vi muchas entrevistas de personas diciendo: "en mis 50 anos viviendo aqui" nunca vi nada parecido, coincidencia? quien sabe, lo que si se es que debemos llevar con seriedad el tema de la contaminacion y comenzar a tomar medidas para dejar un planeta mucho mas sano y limpio para nuestros hijos.😩

Hola @biologistbrito, hermosas fotos los paisajes son espectaculares, ambos lugares tienen su encanto, me gusta más Sintra, la vegetación baja parece una extensa alfombra verde, Arrabida tiene también hermosos paisajes y creo que es perfecta para los aventureros extremos, el hecho de las caídas en la ladera demuestran que no es sencillo el trayecto, aunque creo que por naturaleza siempre hay la tendencia a escoger el camino más arriesgado, resulta ser más emocionante y una gran experiencia, el río me encantó y la variedad de hongos, muy poco veo hongos en la región donde vivo.
Las inundaciones si que fueron fuertes, dejaron su huella en el ambiente.

La casita de piedra es hermosa ♥️

Un post bastante completo con múltiples referencias, sin duda, te inclinas por las experiencias más extremas para elegir un lugar favorito, esas se conservan en la memoria, sobre todo, cuando sé es una persona de aventura.

Por otra parte es lamentable el desastre ocurrido, siempre hay que bajar la cabeza ante el poder de la naturaleza, es una fuerza indetenible.
