My first experience in a TUK TUK haha this transport system is very popular in Sintra and you can use it both to go up or down to the palace, or you can, like I did, pay the person a fee and they will take you around the historic center. Prices vary and can be expensive as well as cheap. My advice is to always haggle because when they are going uphill empty, for them: "any money is profit".😍🛺

The first tip is to buy your ticket online; you might even get a discount and avoid the long summer queues.
If you want to save money on your outing, then bring food and plenty of water so you can have a picnic in the forest.
Hiking poles are not necessary, but boots are; it gets quite muddy in rainy weather.
Do not bring pets, they will not be allowed in the palace. Please respect the rules. You can take a bus for 4 euros which will save you the steep climb to the palace (you can buy the ticket in your wallet).

Path🏰🚩/ Sendero📍🧭

This forest is mythical, mysterious, and holds hundreds of mysteries and stories. Some bloody battles were fought here between the Portuguese and the Moors, and it is still believed that their souls wander these paths in torment, unable to find eternal rest...🚙🏰

The way you describe the route from São Pedro de Penaferrim, along with your personal tips and notes about the surrounding forest, really brings the journey to life. It’s the kind of trail that seems to reward slow exploration, and your reflections make it even more tempting to experience it firsthand.
