One year with my Newtonian telescope🧠 / Una año con mi telescopio newtoniano🔭

Hello friends addicted to science! Today marks one year since I had my Newtonian telescope so I decided to make a dedicated post to explain everything I learned with it and give you my opinion if you plan to buy one in the long term! So far I have had good experiences with this practical and robust telescope that, despite weighing about 20kg or so, we can move it wherever we want, so it is a good selection to see many details of deep space!✨🌓🌠

How does the telescope work?🪐🌌/ Como funciona el telescopio?🔭🧠

Newtonian type telescopes are very old and I would say that one of the first to be manufactured dates back to the 16th century and as its name indicates, its invention is due to the scientist Isaac Newton. They are considered reflectors because they work with a system of mirrors, in Instead of using a focusing system, on the contrary, mirrors form images from light! Its creation helped us understand the universe because at that time refracting telescopes had a lot of chromatic aberration! What is chromatic aberration? (when a correct image is not produced from the light at a point of convergence, say the lens cannot capture all the colors).🔭🌌

The structure of the primary mirror is in the shape of a paraboloid, "it has a focal ratio of f10 or even higher" if the primary mirror is spherical then it will have a better "image resolution", then we have a second secondary mirror that will reflect the image of the first For an "adjustable lens" it will show us the final image, due to their simple shape they are considered the most economical telescopes on the market and with a decent image! In my opinion the images are quite clear, do not expect deep space photography with them because they are limited, however it will depend on the place where you use it, if it is a place with zero pollution you will have beautiful images of galaxies and even photograph them with a subony support.🧠🌏🌠

The equatorial mount is undoubtedly one of the best tools to get bodies in space automatically (with a search engine) or manually with tilt and time settings, they practically work with two axes of vertical and horizontal tilt, after practicing Just adjust it a bit with Polaris, the only star in the sky without movement and by focusing on Polaris we can search for any object in the sky! Many come with a tripod which helps provide good stability and even come with support for cameras like mine!🔭🌌🪐

easy to transport🧠🚩

Despite its limitations, the astromasterEQ130 does not weigh anything and even the weight is the equatorial mount, which in total should add up to about 20kg. What I like about this telescope is its design, it does not take up much space in your house and it is quite easy to transport and even I have taken it to various parts of Portugal and it has behaved well in various types of climates and I even used it in harsh cold weather in winter! Of course, never outdoors exposed to the sun or rain, that is not recommended.👀

Power with 10mm🪐🌌/ Potencia con 10mm🔭🧠

Calculating the X times of magnification is difficult in a telescope but more or less according to my calculations using the 10mm lens which is the "normal" one we have a magnification of about 200 times the human eye more or less to give you an idea a powerful monocular has about 80x so it is comparable to a high range military monocular ! I feel satisfied, the image is clear even though I photograph with the camera directly to the lens, which causes the resolution to be lost a little.🪐🌌🔭

I can conclude that the telescope is for all ages, the price is acceptable, you get it between 700-600 euros with its motor, of course, some cheaper ones do not come with the motor or the equatorial mount! These telescopes do not have that achromatic aberration error, disadvantage? Well, you can see some distortions in the image, so some stars could look like comets or things of that nature, however it is excellent for a beginner.🔭🌌
