Preparation🌍/Preparacion 🚩

Well friends, the great odyssey begins in the village of "Casal de Abegoaria", and we are going to pass through Lexim among other villages doing a circular walk of approximately 25km, which is equivalent to more than 7 hours of intense walking. I will tell you in advance if you want to do it. You have to have experience because you are going to climb almost 800 meters, and the summer and spring sun is scorching and suffocating, fresh clothing, plenty of water and covering your head is ideal or you will not complete the trail! In these photos it was where it started in front of a wine cellar.🧭🚵🏻

Beginning of the walk a little over the villages🌍/Comienzo de la caminata un poco sobre las aldeas🚩

While walking the landscape was changing in a surprising way, I passed by some country houses, Victorian houses and even palaces, some from the 15th century! other rest homes of Portuguese royal figures, the truth is that many of the houses have that Gothic touch, I even got to see a Roman aqueduct and that makes our walk worth it. However, I was already mentally preparing myself because the climbs to the hills would come, which, despite being on the road, are quite a challenge!🚵🏻🧭🌄

nice spring"🍁🍍🌷🌻

The Mediterranean landscape in spring is exceptional, the large number of colorful grasses and shrubs paint the landscape with such style that it is a delight to our eyes, pollinating insects abound and makes our route have much more to see than simple hills. The only thing I don't recommend is doing it on rainy days because there are heights where the terrain is mud!🧭🌏👩‍🏫

Suddenly in the distance I begin to see the first mill, this one here is part of a group that has a total of 4 that we can visit but they are at long distances between them, the path allows them to visit all of them, I think it would be about 4km between them. them, then we make a detour and visit others that are older and abandoned!🧭🚵🏻

Arrival at the first mills🌍/Comienzo de la caminata un poco sobre las aldeas🚩

Well this is our first stop, we arrived at the first two windmills of Mafra, as you can see these were restored and it is believed that they were from the 40s, the importance of the Windmills in the Mafra area had an impact within about the local economy, as you can see in the photos, the area has many wheat crops, it was one of the products that was consumed most frequently at the time. Portugal is not a livestock area itself, so let's say that it was a poor country for many years! By the way, I'll give you some information! The mills normally had a family that lived in them, they took care of it and the man of the house is the one who worked in production!🚵🏻🧭🌻

I was reading that the municipal chamber of Mafra is doing activities in the area to enter the mills and learn how they worked in addition to increasing and growing at the ethnogeographic cultural level. The route is ideal for mountain climbers and hikers who want a challenge within Portugal. , the area is quiet and very few tourists come here to explore the trail, I guess because of its difficulty!🧭

Cheer up! let's go halfway🌍/Animo! vamos por la mitad🚩

At this point in the walk I have more than 15km and I am in the final stretch, I approach my second reference point, the abandoned mills, but first a walk through the village of "Marreiros"⛪🏡

Second historical point abandoned mills🌍/Segundo punto historico molinos abandonados🚩

When we arrive at these mills, which as you can see are much older than the first ones, it is because we are close to completing the path. According to what I read, these are from the end of the 18th century, much older, as you can see, they were built in the same way as a rock castle. That's why deteriorating is not easy.⛪🏡

Mission complete🌍/Mision completada🚩

And here my adventure ends with these beautiful photos of the mills! It was an experience that I enjoyed to the fullest and from which I learned a little more about the culture of the country and about Mafra! I give it five stars, I will definitely repeat it again!⛪🚵🏻
