Hello traveling friends, this afternoon I bring you a post full of beautiful photographs! I set out to visit the (ELA) coastal station of Aguda, on the outskirts of Porto in the small coastal city of Aguda, despite its facilities being very small, it is loaded with a lot of historical material, the museum has so much potential that in the year 2014 It was selected as the best museum in Portugal compared to some 35 other museums in the whole country. This museum opened its doors in 1999 and since then it has received more than 15,000 visits per year. Come live this beautiful experience with me and learn about marine life!🌊🌏🚩
Is the museum worth visiting?🌏🍍/ Vale la pena visitar el museo?🦐🚩
I am very demanding when it comes to visiting a museum first, I always try to make an assessment: (cost-quality), because in Portugal we can pay more than 20 euros to enter a museum and not see interesting things, but here it is the opposite. I give five stars because the entrance costs only 2.5 euros and despite the museum being small it has many interesting things, it consists of two floors, the first a fishing museum with instruments that are more than 200 years old, followed by a set of biome aquariums (salty, sweet) and finally our visiting hour ends on a second floor with clay art and hundreds of paintings with stuffed animals and plants to learn about it.🚩🌏🍍
To photograph things like this, it is certainly worth visiting the museum. Here we see a skull and some bones together with utensils that were discovered on the Aguda beach. It is estimated that they are more than 120 thousand years old, and it is that many civilizations settled in This area because of the resources provided by the sea, and it has been like this for thousands of years. To be more exact, it is a skull of a Homo neanderthalensis, who inhabited the lands with modern man! For me, with historical objects like these, it is definitely worth visiting the museum!🦀🌏🚩
more than 500 objects on display🧠🐟
This is our first section and it is about the fishing museum which, as you can see, is full of modern and old artisan objects, there is a small area where many whaling tools are exhibited, this activity was very famous in Portugal and it was a great source of local employment along with artisanal trawling. We see many lures, hooks, nets, decorative wooden boats, fishing materials, fishing as well as hunting is one of the oldest primordial activities practiced by man!🌏🍍
Man's need to capture food led to the development of countless techniques for thousands of years to capture any aquatic species, and if we compare the techniques they seem to have been transmitted between several generations because they are the same techniques used by various civilizations around the world, barely varying in certain details or tools! To show all this history in 1988 a proposal was created to create a small aquarium on Aguda beach but it was only created years later because this area is considered in danger of erosion!🌏🐟🦐

Visit to the aquarium area🌏🍍/ Visita al area del acuario🦐🚩
The aquarium presents a great variety of flora and fauna, normally common species from the Atlantic and the Portuguese territory, we can see many species of invertebrates that are quite important for local commercial fishing, you can see more than 15 aquariums in total, almost 10,000 liters of water in there are more than 700 animals, about 60 species in total, what was tried is to recreate the aquatic ecosystem of Aguda, to create a very realistic ecosystem, an underwater tour was made where the largest number of species that inhabit the beach were photographed ! among the most outstanding octopus, spider crab, common turtle.🦀🚩🦐

Sea turtle project🌏🍍/ Proyecto de tortuga marina🦐🚩
This is our common turtle friend, she was accidentally captured by some local fishermen's nets, seeing that she was injured, they took her to the aquarium and she has been treated to the point of being only under observation, what the biologists and veterinarians of the aquarium expect. is to release it back to its natural habitat when it is inspected for the last time, it is important that this process be very delicate because if it acquires any disease in the aquarium it can be accidentally introduced into nature and this brings serious ecological problems! Therefore, another extra point for this highly appreciated work and congratulations to the fishermen!🌏🍍🚩
Nature museum🌏🍍/ Museo natural🦐🚩
animals and plants🧠
This part of the museum is one of my favorites and here we see in small pictures and large ecological data of many species that have been found on Aguda beach, many of them caught my attention because they are fossils, for example there are several stones that have small very well preserved fossils of fish and plants hundreds of years old! We can also see some biological data such as the life cycle of a lobster🦀🦐
