A view of little Venice🌏 / Una vista a la pequeña Venecia🚩🌅 (En-Es)

It is incredible how the Europeans, when they arrived in Venezuela, sailed through the lands of "Santa Rosa de Agua" which coincidentally is Maracaibo and noticed that it had a geographical and landscape appearance quite similar to Venice, so it is believed that the name of the country originated from there. During my stay in Maracaibo I couldn't stop visiting the town of Santa Rosa de Agua and reliving that image of those houses built in the water, do they still exist? accompany me!🧭🌍

First to the botanical garden🌼🌷🌍/Primero al jardin Botanico🚩

Before going to the village of Santa Rosa de Agua, we will first make a stop at another of the tourist places that Maracaibo has to offer, it is its tropical botanical garden, here I promised my wife that she would see a hummingbird for the first time, something that there In Portugal they do not exist, besides other plants and animals such as iguanas, the idea of the garden is to see how the environment and biodiversity change within a tropical country! We were very excited, the garden costs 2 dollars per person!🌏🚩🌷⛵

What a coincidence when we arrived at the park we saw several hummingbirds of various species and colors! some strange and large birds like Burhinus oedicnemus, a bird that has a strange sound and is emblematic of Venezuela! Something I did notice about the park is that it was clean but had a fairly dry environment. I don't know if it's because we are in the dry season in Maracaibo or lack of irrigation, could some Marabino answer this for me! It seemed interesting to spend a day with the family, fun, spacious and you can have a picnic!⛵🌷🌏

japanese lagoon🍍🌅

This lagoon was created in 2015 and stands out in the center of the 3 hectares of the garden. In the lagoon we can photograph Koi fish, among others, as well as floating aquatic plants. I was reading that the flower pollinators of these plants are bees. specific! It was quite hot in the park, so I recommend sunscreen, and lots of water!🧭🌏👩‍🏫

Comments on the Botanical Garden🌼🌷🌍/Comentarios sobre el Jardin Botanico🚩

I think in general terms the visit to the garden was fantastic, would I repeat the experience? I don't think so! They are one of those places that you only visit once, however we saw a number of birds and other animals unique to the country and tropical places! It had a huge parking lot and it was free, that is a plus, the entrance is not expensive, the location is privileged, close to the Maracaibo airport! This well protected important thing for tourists is 100% safe! As a negative point, the government could invest a little more money to make the space more pleasant and fun! We cannot demand either, let us remember that we are in a country that is going through a complicated political situation!🦅🌍🚩

The town where little Venice was born⛵🌍/El pueblo donde nace la pequeña Venecia🚩

Our adventure begins here in Santa Rosa de Agua, (10.711184, -71.597830) in this small city is where the name of Venezuela was born where the Europeans, when sailing on the waters of Lake Maracaibo, were surprised to see a picturesque landscape full of stilt houses. ! I looked for a guide known in the area who is called: "paito" he is the last Indian still alive, a descendant of the chief who ruled the village! He will tell us everything about the place and the indigenous people who inhabited the area!🧭🚩🌍

The "Añu" tribe⛵🌍/La tribu "Añu"🧔🚩

The "Añu" tribe was the one that inhabited the lands for hundreds of years and currently our guide: "paito" is a direct descendant of the last Indian leader of the village! He told us as we walked in the main square that the Indians who lived in the stilt houses were from the strongest and most warlike tribe in Maracaibo, their main activity is and still continues to be fishing! According to our guide they participated against the Spanish in independence!🌅🧭

palafito = house built on the water🍍🌅

In Spanish: palafito = it is a house built on the water with wooden structures, that is, wooden posts! Currently, houses continue to be built on Lake Maracaibo! These houses are iconic of Venezuela and were a custom of the aborigines who lived on the shores of the lake, "Paito" the guide told us that they were built on the water because the "Añu" Indian was a fisherman and needed quick access to water since he fished. with wooden boats.🧭🌏👩‍🏫

What is it like to live inside a stilt house?⛵🌍/Como es vivir dentro de un palafito?🧔🚩

To live in a stilt house you have to be used to living in an environment where your landscape is only water, you should probably dedicate yourself to fishing or tourism! Nowadays many still fish and others receive tourists, there are quite a few restaurants that sell typical dishes from the area... Obviously it is fish or seafood! Drinking water services are scarce and they must buy it, the drainage system is literally the lake itself! There is currently a project to build canals and not contaminate the lake!🧭🌅

Local gastronomy⛵🌍/Gastronomia local🥧🧆🚩

We couldn't miss a national beer called "zulia" that is produced here in the state, it is refreshing and smooth! For $30 dollars we ordered a service of fried fish "courvina" for 4 people and 4 drinks with tips, I spent 38 dollars! Something that seemed economical to so many people, I brought salad, yucca and banana! We didn't want to order anything else because it was too much food!🐟🧆

Science under construction⛵🌍/La ciencia bajo la construccion🏠🚩

First we had to make a stop to visit what a mangrove looks like, which is like a tree with large roots that are found in tropical environments and estuaries. It is from this plant that the aborigines created all kinds of tools and accessories, including the material to build their house. trunk and root when dried the fiber is extracted! With the fiber of the mangrove tree the roof and other parts of the house are built and with the trunk the supports such as pillars and bases are produced! all built by hand by people with construction experience!🌾✍

Don't miss my last adventure through Maracaibo⛵🌍🚩
