Looks Scary, But It's Harmless! (The King Cricket)
Found this fascinating insect today! Based on its bold black and yellow striped abdomen, pale "neck" plate, and spiky red legs, it appears to be a King Cricket (family Anostostomatidae). These nocturnal burrowers are harmless and play a great role in the ecosystem.
