Aaargh! My laptop has been behaving itself for quite a while. There was a period when the Ssd with the OS was not being detected, meaning that the Bios would start up and then get dumped out to a 'no bootable drive' error.

I stuffed around with reseating the ssds, which worked for a bit... But in the end, it required a complete clean install of Windows. It sucked like crazy, but it held for a while... And after a few months I didn't have that reflexive flinching every time I booted up the machine. And wondering if it would survive until I was done with what I was doing... And I even started to trust it enough to begin gaming on it again!

But, earlier this week, the dreaded error and non-voting started again. And this time it was a solid no... Not intermittent like last time.

So, just like lazy time... It is off with the backplate again. Because this has happened whilst I'm travelling, it means that I had to pick up a cheap set of tools to work with. Unfortunately, unmagnetised screwdriver heads... Poop. So, I have this onion fridge magnet to help me collect the tiny little screws.

And pop... Off to all the screws. Ssd reseating..nope. Bios check, yep ssds detected but not booting... So, possibly a corrupted boot sector... Again? Weird, and not at all welcome.

So, everything comes out...

... And just to double check, I picked up a ssd enclosure to see if I could boot it from there instead. Just to see if it was possible. But sadly, it didn't work either...

So, I've picked up some USB drives to try to do a boot sector repair... But I'm not particularly hopeful. It sucks that this happened at the start of a holiday, as it is a right pain in the arse to do things on a mobile... And for some things, it is impossible!

It looks like I'm going to have an annoying unexpected expense in a new laptop... Poop...
