An Obsolete World …

It is okay to say that the world is slowly being controlled by AI, every day there’s a new invention of an AI that could do double what humans can do. You find out that there are AI that can be used in the financial industry, health care, restaurants, and educational sectors as well. Technology is taking over the world so are AI inventions taking over as well.

Last week I spoke about how I am a microbiologist and a young lecturer, I also spoke about being a beginner in UI/UX, the big question here is, can AI or robots take over these jobs? The answer is NO.
AI and robots are capable of providing a wide range of information concerning microbiology. They could assist in the practical area of data analysis and also provide adequate information concerning the subject matters. But then there is more to microbiology, as a microbiologist you have to carry out the interpretation of analysis, which requires human judgment and understanding.

When it comes to teaching, I do not think AI and Robots can take over teaching. Teaching requires empathy and the ability to engage and understand the students on a personal level. These innovations do not have feelings and I think the only way AI and Robots could take over the job of a teacher is if they are built to have a sense of empathy with their students. Teaching goes beyond learning, it is a personal relationship between the teacher and the students.

Also when it comes to AI and robots taking over the job of a UI/UX designer, I think UI/UX design also has to do with human creativity. Yes, these innovations are smart and creative. The human touch is still vital. Before designing is done, one needs to understand the user experience and create something based on empathy and intuition.

COPING IN A WORLD WHERE MY SKILL IS OBSOLETE

In a world where eventually AI and robots take over my job, which I am certain can not happen I won’t be sitting around idle. I will look for something meaningful to do. There are still things that the AI and Robots won’t take over and then I will have to learn it and get on with a new skill.

There is always a way to survive in any situation. If there is a situation of AI and robots taking over the world and our jobs I am certain that there will be new opportunities. Every action provides new opportunities. So in a world like that I am open to learning new things.

Aside from this, I do not think that there will come a time when our skills will be obsolete, it is said that AI and robots are created as an assistance, to help us make things easier, but I do not think that they can take over the human's skills. They lack empathy and creativity. So there are skills that they can not take over.

This is a beautiful script Microbiologist, you're right robots can be an asset in data gathering. They're assistants and human feelings would likely be lacking in the discharge of their functions. I'm sure you'll remain relevant always. Good script

I agree with you 100% that they cannot take over teaching jobs as empathy is paramount in the teaching profession and AI is not capable of such characteristics

That's right, AI cannot replace the teaching job, although it can provide a range of information for both the teacher and student but it lacks emotions.

I popped in from Dreamport, always an awesome #dreemerforlife

Al technologies are advancing very fast and very soon a lot more jobs are going to be lost to them but I also believe more jobs are going to be created along the line. And like you rightly said, we will always find a way around things like this.

You have a great point here! There are jobs that require human connection and relationship to be effectively done, and AI cannot successfully handle such. And you are right, AIs were developed to 'assist' so they can only have as much control as they are given by humans.

I was playing around this AI app and asked why it is impossible for it to take over teaching job, it said it doesn't have emotions and empathy like we do 🤣🤣 I just smiled.
The truth is these machines can only provide us with information we need but cannot provide analysis in human understanding. These machines do not have emotions which is required in the teaching job.

You are right, those AI’s will always say they have no intention to take over humans.

Thank you for stopping by Princess☺️☺️

I have watched few movies over the years, most especially a movie such as "peripheral" makes me wonder how far the capabilities of AI could go. You mentioned one important element why AI can substitute humans which is "The humans touch" what if there comes a time when AI can interpret humans emotions, manifesting its own consciousness. Same way we have tools built on AI technology such as Chatgpt. That thing could predict the possible response of respondents in gathering data for a research project. With the way AI is advancing, it is not a matter of if it can't substitute himan labour or not, it is a matter of when.

That is my fear, when that time comes where AI are more smarter and have been designed to have emotions, hopefully we still get jobs either ways. Thank you for stopping by

There is actually a limit to what AI can do and I have to agree with you, AI can't handle teacher nor take over the job of a microbiologist.

The biggest barrier for AI is human empathy and emotion. In so many other things, Artificial Intelligence is surpassing human capability. If we maintain firm boundaries around its usage and application, we could end up with the best of both worlds, although I fear that at this stage, the horse has bolted and those in charge of its restraint are having some difficulty getting it back into its box! Not an entirely impossible task, but one that is going to require collaboration and consensus on many levels. Nevertheless, I believe that AI will open up a brand new world of opportunity for current and future generations in the workplace. I just hope that people are allowed the time and opportunity to transition.

I dropped into Dreeport this evening and read your post.

I love your comment it is very meaningful and brilliant. You are right I hope we are able to transition at that time when there are brand new opportunities. Thank you for stopping by
