"The Process of Capturing Beauty in Rotting Rumbia Palm Leaves"
Yesterday afternoon, I had a rare opportunity to capture the beauty of Delicatula mushrooms growing in abundance in my friend’s garden. I found these mushrooms on a rotting sago palm frond, providing a perfect contrast between the rough natural setting and the smooth and stunning shape of the mushrooms.
Initial Photo of Discovery
When I first found them, I was so amazed by the arrangement of these mushrooms growing in rows like small stairs on the almost fragile frond. I decided to capture this moment before starting my macro photography session, as a tribute to this initial discovery. In the picture, my hand is seen holding the sago palm frond, as if inviting you to witness this beauty up close.
The Magic Behind the Macro Lens
After that, I directed the macro lens to capture every detail of this mushroom. In the second photo, my focus was on the shape of the mushroom neatly stacked on the stem. The soft texture at the bottom of the mushroom, resembling fragile folds of silk, was truly a treat for the eyes.
In the next photo, I tried to highlight the lines on the bottom of the mushroom. The symmetrical pattern is like a wonderful work of natural art, something that the eye might miss without the aid of a macro lens.
The final photo shows a close-up of the mushroom's underside, revealing stunning detail—transparent lines reflecting soft light from the surrounding environment.
