This mushroom is Pluteus salicinus, one of the rare mushrooms I found around here. Its brownish cap with a slightly fuzzy surface really caught my attention.

I found it while taking an afternoon walk in a small forest area near my house. The cool air after the rain made the soil conditions here even more ideal for mushroom growth. I approached this mushroom carefully so as not to damage the surrounding habitat. The afternoon light coming in between the leaves gave a dramatic touch to its appearance, so I took this moment to take some photos using a macro lens.

What makes this mushroom interesting is how it grows amidst the remains of rotting leaves. This natural process reminds me of how important the role of fungi as decomposers in the ecosystem is. Without them, the cycle of life might not be balanced.

The experience of observing this mushroom made me appreciate the beauty and complexity of nature around us even more. Hope you enjoy this little story too!
