That day, my steps through the village forest felt so ordinary, like many previous trips. However, amidst the tranquility of nature, my eyes fell on a small figure hidden among the dry leaves. There, standing majestically, was a small, bright orange mushroom—the Marasmius siccus mushroom.

Despite its small size, this mushroom managed to steal my attention. The thin but sturdy stem supports the mushroom umbrella which looks fragile, like it is made of fine paper. Its simple but alluring shape made me pause for a moment, mesmerized by the beauty of this mushroom as it contrasted with the dark forest floor.

The uniqueness of Marasmius siccus is not only its appearance, but also its extraordinary ability to dry out in summer and come to life when it rains. It is as if this fungus has a double life, able to adapt to changing natural conditions.

When I photograph these fungi, I imagine the hidden life going on beneath our feet—tiny ecosystems struggling to survive in a world full of change. The presence of Marasmius siccus is a reminder of how rich and amazing life is around us, even in the things that are often overlooked.
