Fungifriday- "Palm Tree Fungus From Camera Lens To Dinner Table"
This is my contribution to
#fungifriday curated by @ewkaw
Hey #fungifriday friends! Everything ❤
After working all day in the coffee shop, that afternoon I decided to take a moment to go to the oil palm plantation in my village. My mind immediately went back to the moment a few days earlier when I saw a palm tree that had fallen and burned. Experience has taught me that conditions like these are often ideal places for mold growth, and I didn't want to miss this opportunity.
I carefully explored the area around the burnt palm tree, my gaze fell on the blackened tree trunk, and sure enough, there I saw a bunch of white mushrooms starting to emerge from the charred surface of the trunk. This mushroom has a unique surface texture. It is as if it is covered in fine feathers which makes it look attractive and a little mysterious.
I paused to examine the mushroom more closely. This mushroom is a type of mushroom (Coprinopsis) or what we usually call here palm stem mushroom, I feel confident that this mushroom is safe for consumption. I started to get my camera out and started taking some close-up photos of this mushroom. I wanted to capture the natural beauty of this mushroom in its natural state before I finally picked it.
Once I was satisfied with my shots, I started picking the mushrooms one by one. The smell of moist, fresh earth rose as I pulled it from the tree trunk. I collected enough mushrooms to take home and taste them. When I got home, I immediately cleaned these mushrooms with clean water. In my mind, I can already imagine how delicious it would be if these mushrooms were cooked with noodles.
After the washing process was complete, I started cooking. I decided to sauté these mushrooms with simple spices before mixing them with the cooked noodles. When the noodles with mushrooms are served on a plate, the aroma is so tempting. I immediately tasted it, and it turns out it tastes amazing! This mushroom not only provides a soft and chewy texture, but also a distinctive and delicious taste that enriches the taste of the noodles themselves.
Hunting for mushrooms in the garden does require patience and precision, but the rewards are totally worth it. This experience is not just about getting food, but also about enjoying the process of exploring nature and being grateful for what we can find around us.
I am very happy to be able to share this experience in the #FungiFriday community. Mushroom hunting gives me the opportunity to get closer to nature, appreciate its beauty, and enjoy the results at the dinner table. Hopefully my experience can inspire other community members not to be afraid to explore and discover the natural wonders around them.
