A few days ago, I decided to explore a small forest in my village. That afternoon, the air was fresh after a night of rain, and I was excited to see what I could find. After some time walking among the trees and bushes, my attention was drawn to something quite interesting among the leaves—a round, rough, and unique shape that looked like it was covered in small bumps.
I got closer and realized that I had found the fruit of Dioscorea bulbifera, also known as the air yam. This fruit stands out with its mottled surface, looking quite exotic amidst the green surroundings. Dioscorea bulbifera often grows wild in tropical areas like this place, and I am always amazed when I can find wild plants like this in their natural habitat.
On closer inspection, the fruit looks like a small ball with a rough and somewhat stiff texture, held in place by the tendrils of the plant that twine around it. Although this fruit is beautiful, I know that Dioscorea bulbifera is generally considered unsafe to consume without special preparation due to its toxic content. However, for me, the uniqueness of nature is not only in what can be eaten, but also in how it grows and adapts to its environment.
