A few weeks ago, in the late afternoon, I found a caterpillar that caught my attention on a rambusa plant (Passiflora foetida). This caterpillar is the larva of the Acraea terpsicore butterfly, also known as the Tawny Coster.
With a blackish red body and decorated with striking fine spines, this caterpillar looks so contrasting among the green leaves. I watched it for a long time, seeing how it moved slowly on the surface of the leaves, occasionally stopping, perhaps to find a comfortable feeding position.
When photographing, I try to capture its unique details—the texture of its body, its sharp spines, and its interesting interactions with its surroundings. That afternoon, the light was quite dim, so I had to be more careful in arranging the lighting so that the details could still be seen clearly.
NOTE: I first wrote the article above in Indonesian, which is my own language, then I translated it using English with the help of Goggle.
