What is Thunderstorm and How can we track its Location?

Hello StemSocial Community! Welcome to my blog. Homo Sapiens had been witnessed many Natural Disasters. Some of them were known to him and some were unknown. These unknown disasters opened the doors of thinking for him. He started finding logics behind every happening and this is who Discovery started. When I was a child, I was also wondering by these disasters. With Zero Knowledge about them, I was more frightened whenever I had experienced them. With the Study and Learning, my mind started accepting logics and now I 'm less fearful because I know the reasons for these Natural Disasters. Today, I have decided to explore one of these disaster named as Thunderstorm that is really dreadful and we must have knowledge about it.

It is one of the most common natural disasters especially in rainy days. You have experienced it at your any age of life. It has two important episodes.

  • Flashing of Lightning
  • Rumbling of Thunder

Reason

Where there is a high temperature, there is found an uplifting of warm and humid air towards the sky. This process continues untill warm and humid approach a region at sky where temperature is too much low. This low temperature condensed moisture into water droplets. The gathering of these water droplets with warm continues untill a cloud is formed. Due to turbulent air streams, the cold air droplets and ice crystals strike with each other and charge is produced on them.

This charge causes a specific Electric Voltage. The flow of this electric voltage between clouds and surface of earth generates high amount of heat. When heat causes expansion of air, it resulted into rumbling of thunder.

Warning

Whenever there are chances of heavy thunderstorm, we should take protective measurements for our safety because it's lightning can cause bursting at a large scale. Don't come outside with bare headed or block clothes because block color is easily charged and can result into the attraction of thunderstorm.

Have You Noticed?

Thunderstorm is very common Natural Phenomenon. It can happen anywhere. We are habitants of modern era and advanced technology. Still there are many things that must be noticed.

Have you noticed during thunderstorm? We see flashes of lightning first and the sound of thunder is heard later but both are produced at same time.

It is because light is electromagnetic wave that travels with a speed of 300000000 meters per second while sound is the mechanical wave with a speed of 344 meters per second. Hence, the flashes of light are observed within microseconds while lightning is heard after few seconds depending upon distance.

Learning Outcome

Through each Natural Disaster, we learned many things. Today, I want to share an interesting Learning Outcome that can be easily concluded from Thunderstorm.

Is it possible to predict the distance of Thunderstorm?

Yes, it is very possible. We need to note the time between two events flashes of lightning and thunder. For example, I have seen flashes of lightning on the sky and I heard thunder after 12 seconds. I shall divide this time with a factor 3 (3 is the determined factor came from sound speed=344m/s) to predict the distance and location where thunderstorm is exactly fallen on the ground. From the above simple equation, I can conclude distance will be 4 Kilometers away from me. To find location, I shall open the Google Map on my android. The concluded distance and direction of thunderstorm will locate the place where this disaster happened.

Sometimes, the flashes of lightning appeared while thunder is not heard. In this case, the distance of thunderstorm will be more than 15 Kilometers and sound is deflected by air dust particles present into atmosphere.

This is all about Thunderstorm and how can we track its location precisely. I hope, you enjoyed my post. Thanks!
