Lubię korzystać z oferty Restaurant Week Festival, to jest super motywacja, żeby wyjść z domu i spróbować czegoś nowego. Ostatnio długo za mną chodziła kuchnia indyjska, a w naszym miejscu zamieszkania z dostawą lub bliskością tego typu rarytasów niestety krucho, więc wybór był oczywisty - hinduska restauracja Icy & Spicy.

I like taking advantage of the Restaurant Week Festival offer, it's a great motivation to get out of the house and try something new. Recently, I have been interested in Indian cuisine for a long time, and where we live, delivery or proximity to this type of delicacies is unfortunately not available, so the choice was obvious - the Indian restaurant Icy & Spicy.

Lokal mieści się w Katowicach przy ulicy Gliwickiej, wejście jest może niepozorne, ale już od progu wita nas kolorowy, hinduski klimat i charakterystyczne, smakowite zapachy.

The restaurant is located in Katowice at Gliwicka Street, the entrance may be inconspicuous, but from the moment we enter we are greeted by a colorful Indian atmosphere and characteristic, delicious smells.

Menu festiwalowe składa się standardowo z przystawki, dania głównego i deseru.
W obu wersjach przystawka jest ta sama - przepyszne Indian Papad Tacos z sosem Raita. W chipsie znajduje się cieciorka, sos pomidorowy, cebulka, posypane jest to wszystko drobnymi chrupkami, a do tego ten przepyszny granat... Poezja. Sos Raita również bardzo mi smakował. Mała przekąska, bardzo smaczna. Przypomniała mi, że uwielbiam granaty, i koniecznie muszę w najbliższej przyszłości zakupić i zajadać.

The festival menu usually consists of an appetizer, main course and dessert.
In both versions, the appetizer is the same - delicious Indian Papad Tacos with Raita sauce. The chips contain chickpeas, tomato sauce, onion, sprinkled with tiny crisps, and this delicious pomegranate... Poetry. I also really liked the Raita sauce. A small snack, very tasty. It reminded me that I love pomegranates and I must buy and eat them in the near future.

Zaraz po przystawce wjechało danie główne.
I tutaj mogę mieć pewne zastrzeżenie co do wyboru menu. Spotkałam się już z czymś takim w ramach Restaurant Week w innej restauracji, że do wyboru było menu mięsne i wegetariańskie. Menu mięsne było złożone z samego mięsiwa, a menu wegetariańskie z samych warzyw. Tu jest trochę lepiej, bo wegetariańska soczewica jest dość sycąca, ale jako osoba jedząca wszystko, byłabym mocno rozczarowana, otrzymawszy samo mięso albo same warzywa. Idealnie jest tak jak tutaj - wzięliśmy dwa różne menu i się nimi podzieliliśmy. To rozwiązanie jest ok. Ale gdyby ktoś przyszedł sam, albo obie osoby zdecydowałyby się na to samo menu, nie byłoby już tak smacznie.

Right after the starter, the main course arrived.
And here I may have some reservations about the menu selection. I've already encountered something like this during Restaurant Week in another restaurant, where there was a meat and vegetarian menu to choose from. The meat menu consisted of meat only, and the vegetarian menu consisted only of vegetables. It's a little better here, because vegetarian lentils are quite filling, but as a person who eats everything, I would be very disappointed if I got only meat or only vegetables. Perfect is like here - we took two different menus and shared them. This solution is ok. But if someone came alone, or if both people chose the same menu, it would not be as tasty.

Miska mięsa. Baranina i kurczak. To zielone to również kurczak, tyle że w szpinaku. Do tego jeden maleńki pomidor.
Mój mąż pewnie był zadowolony, ja nie byłabym zachwycona tylko takim daniem - pomimo, że wszystko było bardzo smaczne.

A bowl of meat. Mutton and chicken. The green one is also chicken, but in spinach. Plus one tiny tomato.
My husband was probably pleased, but I wouldn't be delighted with such a dish - even though everything was very tasty.

Danie wege - czarna soczewica urid, czerwona fasolka, pomidor, cebula, imbir, śmietanka, masło, kolendra do dekoracji. Jeśli miałabym już wybierać tylko jedną z opcji, to byłoby to właśnie to. Oczywiście w towarzystwie pysznego chlebka Naan. Ale jak już wspominałam - najlepiej te oba dania połączyć.

Vegetarian dish - black urid lentils, red beans, tomato, onion, ginger, cream, butter, coriander for decoration. If I had to choose only one option, it would be this one. Of course, accompanied by delicious Naan bread. But as I have already mentioned - it is best to combine both dishes.

Pora na desery. Deser w menu mięsnym, a więc przynależny mojemu mężowi, to prawdziwa pyszota. Mango Kulfi - czyli śmietanka, mleko, mrożony przecier z mango, pistacja i nerkowce.

Time for desserts. The dessert on the meat menu, which belongs to my husband, is truly delicious. Mango Kulfi - cream, milk, frozen mango puree, pistachio and cashews.

Mój deser to Gajar ka Halva - czyli puree z marchewki, mleko, zielony kardamon, nerkowce i migdały. Też dobre, bardzo słodkie.

My dessert is Gajar ka Halwa - carrot puree, milk, green cardamom, cashews and almonds. Also good, very sweet.

Nie jest to to samo, co podróż kulinarna po Indiach - tego nie zastąpi nic. Ale z braku laku warto od czasu do czasu zaspokoić swoje żądze i zjeść coś dobrego w lokalnej knajpie hinduskiej :)

It is not the same as a culinary journey around India - nothing can replace it. But if you don't feel like it, it's worth satisfying your cravings from time to time and eating something good at a local Indian restaurant :)
