RE: Why We Miss People Who Hurt Us
You are viewing a single comment's thread:
What you're describing, feels like you're missing someone, but it's actually a response to a psychological void that was created by their absence. The void is shaped with the silhouette of the one who left, and we think that only this individual can perfectly fill the shape of this emptiness...
But experience says otherwise--even if the individual were to come back--most of the time you will relive and repeat the same things that led to the separation, only this time the void will take another shape... it will take the shape of you.
You are the only one that can close the emptiness that is left by another person. You miss them, but you also miss a part of yourself that was happy. That part may feel like it gone with the the other person, but you can reclaim it as soon as you're ready.

Thank you for sharing this perspective. It really made me think. Maybe you're right that what we often miss is not only the person, but also the version of ourselves that existed when they were part of our lives. The emptiness can feel like it belongs to them, but healing comes from finding those lost pieces within ourselves again. It's not always easy, but learning to rebuild that happiness from within is probably the most important step forward...
That is really beautifully said.
I feel for you if this is the situation you're currently living through... there is pain, longing, regrets... but self expression, creativity and being open, are signs that you are already on the path to restore your missing pieces. 💗
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words. I truly appreciate your understanding. Life does bring moments of pain, longing, and regret, but I believe every experience teaches us something valuable. Writing and expressing my thoughts help me process those emotions and keep moving forward. I'm still learning, growing, and rebuilding myself step by step. Your encouragement means a lot, and I'm grateful that you took the time to share it. 💗
It was a pleasure to read. Genuine expression and vulnerability are precious both to the writer and the reader.
Keep sharing your wonderful inner light! 🤗
