Hi Angeluxx, the Fe–C phase diagram is an equilibrium map that describes the phases and microstructures of iron–carbon alloys as a function of temperature and carbon content. It's certainly a topic discussed only in technical schools, but it's actually very important. The Fe–C phase diagram is used to predict the internal structure of steels and cast irons after solidification or heat treatment, thus correlating composition, microstructure, and mechanical properties (hardness, strength, ductility). You're probably wondering what it's for. It's primarily used for steel design. We have large quantities of structural, tool, and stainless steels around the world, so imagine how much this graph is used.
