I agree with you regarding "general feeling" instead of direct knowledge that slows us down.

When it comes to CBDC's possible implementation, from my point of view, if it happened, it would be the beginning of total disaster. I'm just not sure that people are aware of it. They are packing the whole story in such shiny, colorful, and attractive packages (and they are going to pack it even better), counting on people's commotion, laziness, superficiality, and ignorance that an average Joe would think he would actually gain something with it. The day when this average Joe would wake up finally, realizing he is actually living in some sort of China's social credit system (or whatever they call it), entirely controlled (with or without the money that even has an expiration date) might be too late.

We have a funny expression here (that would probably lose much of its true meaning in translation) that goes, "It has never been that it wasn't somehow, so it would never be that it wouldn't be somehow." 😀 - Meaning, even in the hardest and most odd and awkward times and situations, people found the way (or were forced to find it).

In that sense, and after the fear, the other thing that is not working in our favor now is a lazy and commotional overall mentality.

• Many people don't know how to do things with their bare hands, even if it's something easiest and simplest. They are forced to hire someone.
• We are present on all sorts of social media (all over), but we don't know who our next-door neighbors are. We never properly talk to them, even less drink a coffee together, even if that neighbor is the most sincere and friendly one.
• Many young people today (quite spoiled in all sorts of ways) basically expect something for nothing. With a mobile phone in their hands (through online social activity, because of a couple of "successful influencers," gaming, or whatever similar else) they plan and expect to make (an easy) living.
• etc.

I have relatives (three families in separate apartments in a bigger house) living together in a semi-mutual household. They have quite a big yard with an orchard around the house where mostly different old sorts of apple trees are planted, a couple of plum and pear trees, and a rear high-quality cherry tree with large fruits. All they have to do is pick the fruit when it is ripe. But they never do that. They go and buy it on the market. - Insane! - And the "best part" is that one of the men in the house is a professional gardener.
That's how we are living today. That's one of the types of lazy and commotional overall mentality I was talking about.
