Detoxifying is part of life. If we must stay healthy we must learn to remove toxin from our bodies to feel alive again. Toxins here refers to anything that does no good to us mentally, emotionally or otherwise.
There are different ways people detoxify and I think digital dexofication is not a bad idea too.
Starting 2025, I hope to clear the digital space I am in, talking about various social media platforms. Truth is, I am not as active on other social platforms like I am active here on Hive. I noticed these platforms keep running on my device's background even though I don't use them.
I hope to uninstall apps that aren't in use, and even delete so many pictures that have been on my device for years. Some pictures just occupy space. I have a lot of memes on my phone which I screenshot from people's WhatsApp status. Although, they make me laugh each time I view them, but I think it's high time I deleted it.
My email box would probably be looking at me with a bombastic side eye. I can't remember when last I deleted read mails from my box which aren't useful. I have about 14k unread mails which had been sent over the years.. I only read important mails but come 2025, they will be gone, I promise.
Screen time..wooosh!! I think I would do a weekend detox on this one. I will deliberately abstain from using any social media platform more than necessary during the weekend in 2025. I think I would explore more with nature, and engage in face to face interaction with my family and friends who do not live far from me.
Most importantly, I will be deleting meaningless contact stored on my device. Some of these contacts are people I haven't spoken with for years and I'm not even sure they still use the number anymore. To create more space for meaningful contacts, those ones will be gone.
Some contact on WhatsApp does no good to me either, it's either they are posting irrelevant content or just disturbing my peace with so much noise on that space. I would either be muting or removing them and that applies to my Facebook account and other social media platforms.
So far, I checked my digital wellbeing via my phone, it looks good but I think I need to improve. I will be setting schedules for my screen time, data usage and battery usage as well.
I will also organize my apps and files to reduce visual clutter. I think I would love to practice more mindfulness in 2025 than just miss out on life pressing my device. I would set a digital curfew and respect that curfew.
All of these are ways I hope to detoxify digitally come 2025 and I am already on that path. Before I forget..all the draft here on Hive will either be reconstructed and published or deleted so I have more space for better write-up.

I like the idea, a digital cleanup is also very necessary for our well being. I don't like to store things I don't need, but sometimes I do it for doing nothing with what I receive, as well as images on my device.
