The post-pandemic educational process.

Dear readers, the situation concerning the pandemic has ceased a little in some countries as is the case of my country Venezuela, which for several months has been teaching university education in a semi-face-to-face way, especially those curricular units that have to develop a practical theoretical content. At the beginning of the pandemic we were not prepared to teach purely virtual classes, because the educational system was purely oriented to face-to-face education, therefore, the training of teachers regarding the use of technological tools for the socialization of knowledge was very scarce, not to say that it was null.

When we refer to the use of technological tools it is not related to the use of computers or any other device, but with the use of platforms that are used as ZOOM that allows direct interaction with students to impart knowledge and the assignment of activities. In the case of those of us who write on platforms such as hive on academic topics related to our area of study, it made things a little easier for us, because we had developed much of the content of the subjects we teach, therefore, such material was socialized and discussed with students turning the hive platform into a site for academic consultation.

In the current post-pandemic situation, in the university sector it is thought that a blended learning education should give good results, but for this, it is important to provide academic training on the use of communication tools, possibly the implementation of academic diplomas can guide all academic staff in terms of dissemination, evaluation and monitoring of academic activities assigned, because otherwise each teacher would implement different methodologies.

The university institutes can create their own technological tools so that all the teaching staff is focused on the use of the same technology and can make improvements of it as a whole according to the needs of each institution, because the university teacher must have important qualities that optimize the educational process. But the training should not be directed only to the teacher, it should also take into account the students who, of course, are the fundamental axis of the educational process. This is mentioned because of the experience we have had during the previous academic periods in which the lack of skills and knowledge about the use of technological tools to carry out these activities has become notorious.

n the case that corresponds to us in the career of agricultural production engineering, some of the theoretical bases can be taught virtually and of course the rest of the content in a practical way in the field where the student has the opportunity to learn by doing.

Dear readers, the teaching process is based not only on the level of knowledge that a teacher has, it is also necessary to have effective communication so that knowledge can be transmitted efficiently, it is not about improving education but to transform it, for this, we educators must be in line with the new methodologies that can be implemented to transmit knowledge.

Thank you for staying until the end.

From agrotecnia we reiterate our gratitude to our followers and all the communities that value our content, this commits us to continue sharing quality information with the whole hive.

At least something good was brought about by the pandemic! I guess it also affected many offices that saw that there isn't a need for too much face-to-face work!

I would say that it depends on the topic. However, I agree that standard lectures could be mostly done online.

Before the pandemic, you already had some online graduate courses for example! I don't know how it is in France, but what I saw in my former graduate program is that weekly talks started to be online, and in my time they were on site, so the conference room was far from my lab, so I used to spend lots of times in the process of going there and coming back... I know that there is some cons! I registered myself in some virtual conferences online during the pandemic, what happened is that I continued to work while in these conferences, and sometimes I missed some talks that I wouldn't if I were there on site.

Sure. It was just not that generalised.

I guess here we must distinguish courses given to the young ones (students in their first year of their studies) to the advanced ones, including workshops, graduate and post-graduate events, and conferences.

For the youngest students, I always recommend a mixed program: do online what does not strictly require an on-site presence, and use the on-site time for new kind of activities (for instance active-learning-based sessions), or for stuff that cannot be done online (like lab classes). This is at least how I teach now to the young ones.

For the rest, I agree with you. I did the same as you related to conferences and workshops, and I have never attended so many events in a year. However, we don't enjoy them as much for the reason you mentioned: we always multitask... In short, we must make concession and try to stay disciplined (which is not easy). Also, great projects often originate from coffee-break discussions. With online events, this is not possible anymore.

Anyway, I stop here (for now ;) ).

Cheers!

Hello @gwajnberg it is a pleasure to greet you, in the particular case of our university institution we were teaching face-to-face classes, but the pandemic forced to virtual classes, hence from my point of view at present I only teach the basic theoretical knowledge virtually and the more complex content and practices in a face-to-face way.

This allows me to have a little more time to devote to other activities. See you later, have a great weekend. Success

Lecturing online is one thing, but depending on the topic lecturing in presence may be better.

On my side (I probably already told you; I am not sure to properly remember), I have changed completely my way to lecture on-site. It is now all about active learning, a nice balance between team and individual work, a large panel of various activities, etc. And of course lab classes that were fully cancelled during the pandemic.

Cheers!

Hello dear friend @lemouth, I am glad that the article allows to share positions on face-to-face and virtual classes, from my point of view I consider that some elements that we as teachers consider complex, it is important to teach them in a face-to-face way, also in our case the field and laboratory practices.

The rest of the basic content can be socialized at a distance through distance lectures, which allows us to have a little more time to plan other types of activities. The difficulty sometimes lies in the understanding of those involved, both students and teachers, in the handling of the technical tools used.

See you later, have a great weekend.

Hi @amestyj.

Although we can consider that this pandemic is practically coming to an end, education in the case of Venezuela as I do not know the rest of the countries, really was very affected and requires a drastic transformation, which manages to redirect the educational process and return to what it was or even better than it was, very good article friend Jose greetings and a big hug.

Greetings my dear friend @chucho27, I share your position, education in our country must transform towards a model that adapts to current technology, which allows to socialize information at a distance in an effective way.

So long brother, have a great weekend, blessings on the family.
