¿Cómo se clasifican las ciencias? // How do you classify the sciences?

I have spent years recreating in my mind the moments when science began to be done, and I definitely cannot erase the hominid that at some point forked in the evolutionary tree of anthropomorphic primates. Some still wonder if we really come from the monkey and why those have not become humans, because each species has found its ideal conditions to survive the environmental pressures, and there it stayed, in stasis as the jumpers would say.

That group of hominids began to try to understand and make sense of nature, even to live from it. Perhaps they established their routines based on day or night, cold or heat, in short, on everything that surrounded them. From the use of fire began to improve the methods of cooking, protection and subsistence, and that was definitely science!

I don't know how, but he managed to create and name, and today we know about many things, inside and outside the planet, because that hominid that is now Homo sapiens sapiens has already reached the moon and launches satellites to look into space. It is no coincidence then that Mario Bunge (1970) tells us that "Science appears to us as the most dazzling and astonishing of the stars of culture", a knowledge created by men and that today we tend to believe that it is only governed by the scientific method.

Those of us who have studied under the exact sciences refuse to consider that the social sciences can become objective. The positivist paradigm lies in our thoughts, so much so that it has blinded most of them. Bunge (ob. Cit.) divides them into formal (Logic, Mathematics) and factual (Natural and cultural).

The human sciences have been even more difficult to divide because they can generally overlap and that is why Piaget (1979) establishes 4 categories:

The sciences that have to do with laws
  • Las ciencias históricas // Historical sciences
  • Las ciencias normativas // The normative sciences

Interdisciplinarity is so deeply felt that sometimes many serve as a foundation for others. When I started my doctorate, I remember feeling confronted by a new system of knowledge, the philosophical one, with words that were quite long and new to me. The shift from positivism to evaluating qualitative research made a lot of noise to me and I confronted it too much. Doing my thesis under the qualitative, phenomenological and hermeneutic paradigm led me to see from reality that objectivity can be seen from the human sciences, and today I applaud it.
