Monomad - Some cute photos of baby grasshoppers
This is my entry for the daily #monomad challenge
Grasshoppers are grass-eating insects from the order Orthoptera. And between grasshoppers and crickets sometimes have some similarities, but grasshoppers generally have both antennae that are shorter than their body length.
And the presence of locusts in some areas sometimes worries the farmers. However, until now locusts have not become a serious pest for farmers, especially in the area where I live and in Indonesia in general. There are many species of grasshoppers in my area, and photographing the adults is sometimes much more difficult than photographing the baby grasshoppers.
Besides being good at jumping, adult grasshoppers are also filled with both wing feathers which allow them to fly farther. Whereas baby grasshoppers are only good at jumping, so even if they run away from the camera they can still come back to find them.
That's what I did a few days ago when I was in the grass on the outskirts of the rice fields. Photographing baby grasshoppers that are still cute. And they seem to be the babies of Oxya grasshoppers which indeed inhabit a lot of the grass at the edge of the rice fields.
