Macro Photography - Valley carpenter bee (male)
On this post I want to share some macro photos that I take a photo few days ago in the bushes. The object of the photo is a bee known as the "valley carpenter bee". And like bees in general, this bee with the binomial name Xylocopa sonorina also likes flowers. This is of course because in flowers there is nectar or a sweet liquid which is liked by several species of insects, such as bees and butterflies.
Some of the valley carpenter bee photos that I share are bees with a golden yellow color. And that indicates if this bee is male, while the female is black. This bee itself was familiar to Indonesian children in rural areas in the 1990-2000s. Although often prohibited by their parents, this bee is still a child's toy.
Children like to catch this bee because the bee has a louder voice than other types of bees, this is because the size of this bee is much bigger than some existing bee species. Valley carpenter bees make nests in dead wood by digging wood, and there are holes as a sign that the wood has been dug by the bees.
The children used used plastic bags to cover the holes while shaking and hitting the dead wood with other small pieces of wood. Of course the bees that are inside will feel disturbed and choose to come out and then unknowingly they have entered a trap. The bees that have entered the plastic bag are struggling to get out while making loud sounds that children like. And I've uploaded some photos of the valley carpenter bees below, here are some photo:

WoW! I never saw this kind of a bee. Do they also make honey?
A very beautiful species indeed. You have managed to capture their best angles. I loved them. I don't know if the photos are edited but their colors and especially the yellow make each photo a spectacle 😍
Thank You @edwardstobia
The bee species is indeed yellow in color which is male.
