Macro Photography - Tropical carpenter bee (female)
Some time ago I shared photos of male tropical carpenter bees & in this post I again want to share several photos of female tropical carpenter bees. The most prominent difference between the two lies in the color. If the male sex is golden yellow like what I previously posted. As for the female, it has a solid black color with both wings which are metallic blue-green.
Tropical carpenter bee is a bee with the Latin name Xylocopa latipes from the Apidae family. This bee is also one of the bee species with a large size compared to several other bee species which are even smaller than flies. Because of its large size, this bee is quite strong and has a loud voice too.
As the name implies, namely tropical carpenter bee, this bee is indeed widespread in several tropical countries in Southeast Asia, especially in Aceh, Indonesia. Apart from that, these bees can also dig up dead wood to use as a nest. And I have uploaded some photos of carpenter bees below.
