Macro Photography - Orange butterfly, pumpkin beetle & long-snouted beetle
About two days ago I went back to the forest to hunt insects. At this location I managed to photograph several species of insects, three of which I want to share in today's post.
Some of the insects I mean include a pair of weevils making love. I was very lucky to be able to peek at them having fun together with their partners. Because I think it is an interesting moment that is quite rare, we can find insects at any time but of course they are not always during mating time. As for weevil, what I mean is Curculionidae.
"The Curculionidae are a family of weevils, commonly called snout beetles or true weevils." Wikipedia
The beetles in the Curculionidae family consist of several species & the one I found is a weevil which is known as the long-snouted beetle.
Then there are leaf destroying beetles or also often known as pumpkin beetles, this is because this beetle is a pest for pumpkin plants because in large numbers it will cause serious leaf damage to pumpkin plants. The beetles I mean are part of the Aulacophora foveicollis beetle.
"Aulacophora foveicollis, the red pumpkin beetle, is a species of beetle in the family Chrysomelidae." Wikipedia
And finally there is a beautiful orange butterfly. This butterfly is a medium sized butterfly. I managed to photograph it while it was sunbathing on the leaves of wild plants, although I couldn't get many shots because the Chersonesian rahria butterfly is quite wild too.
"Chersonesia rahria is an Indomalayan butterfly of the family Nymphalidae (Cyrestinae). It is found from Manipur and Naga Hills to Burma then from Borneo to Celebes." Wikipedia
